After Curse of the Black Pearl, before Dead Man's Chest

While sailing between continents, a massive storm brewed around the Black Pearl. The clouds covered the moon, blackening the sky.

Jack has been through his fair share of storms, as has Annette, but nothing quite like this one. Jack ensured that all hands were on deck, but kept his place at the wheel. Jack was unnaturally fearful of Annette and wished for her to be safe below deck, but she refused. She did have a phobia of storms, unbeknownst to her that it was a storm that killed her biological father and almost took her life as well. Annette did her job of ordering the men around on the deck, until she looked up and noticed that one of the sails from the main mast had fallen down. She saw that a loose rope was the culprit. Back on Le Victorieux, she was often in charge of scurrying up to the top of the mast to tie any knots that had come loose during storms.

She was always careful about it, and she had to time it perfectly in order to be safe about climbing up towards the crows nest. She stood in front of the rope netting of shroud ratline and looked out at the ocean before she began her climb. Her numb toes were stiff in her sea boots, and the storm already had her on edge. She had been out at sea long enough to know when waves were coming, and she had just enough time to get to the top and tie the knot and come back down before the next wave was going to hit.

Jack was standing at the helm, gripping the wheel to keep it from spinning out of control. He called out to his crew when he noticed a large wave about to crash onto the ship, and everyone braced for its impact. When the water slipped away, he noticed that Annette had begun climbing up the ratline.

"No! Not good!" Jack shouted before he appointed Gibbs to take his place at the wheel

"No! Not good!" Jack shouted before he appointed Gibbs to take his place at the wheel. He kept yelling at Annette as he raced down to the main deck and waved his arms to get her attention, which wasn't working. He managed to grab a hold of her waist and pulled her back down.

Annette was pissed that someone was yanking her off the ropes. She had tried to cling to it, but the ropes slipped out of her grasp, making her palms burn. When she saw that Jack was the offender, she let her face show how confused and frustrated she was with his action.
