The rain came down harder and harder as Zero drove. It was getting dark to which didn't help one bit.
"Why is it that I always have to drive during bad weather?" Zero grumbled. Every time it rained he had to drive.
Dazai, who was laying in the backseat yawned and shrugged, "Cuz' I don't want to."
"We're here." Zero pulled into the driveway of an old warehouse. "This seems off." He gazed at the worn down building.
"Probably is. Come on," He sat up and got out of the car, Zero following behind him.
The pair walked into the building. It was damp and dim. Only the small amount of light from outside peaking through the open windows.
The eerie vibe of the place sent a shiver down Zeros spine, "I don't like this."
"I'll be fiiine. Just don't try and protect me and everything will go smoothly. Understood?" Dazai tilted his head, looking at Zero.
"...Yeah sure." He walked in deeper. He wasn't sure if he could do that.
"Been a while, Dazai," A voice said as someone dropped down from atop one of the large boxes.
Dazai made a face, "It has, hasn't it Chuuya?"
"Yeah, yeah. Who's the girl?" The red head nodded towards Zero.
Dazai laughed, "Here that Zero, you're a little girl."
Zero turned to Dazai and kicked him in the stomach, "Shut up." He turned to Chuuya,"I'm a guy and my name is Zero. You?"
"Chuuya. You Dazais new partner or something?" He glanced at Dazai who was dramatically clutching his stomach and whining.
"Unfortunately. By how you're guessing I'll say you're his old partner from when he was in the Port Mafia? And you're also not what we're here for." Zero tilted his head.
"Tch, yeah. Dazai! Why are you here?" Chuuya asked.
"Same as you. Man with a strong ability, guess he's a threat to both of our organizations, " He stood and adjusted his coat.
"Well you can leave. I can handle this." Chuuya said, putting hid hands in his pockets.
Zero shook his head,"No. This guy is tough. Us all being here will increase our chances of capturing him without any injuries."
Dazais head snapped to the left and he pushed Zero away to the side. A huge slash appeared across the ground.
"Shit," Zero stood up and looked around for the source of the slash mark. He created a field and climbed into the air.
"Left." Dazai said and pointed his gun to a shadow in the left corner.
An older man with black hair and formal clothing stepped forward,"Nice dodge there, Alastor."
Zero inhaled sharply, "Dazai, Shortie, get out."
"SHORTIE?" Chuuya looked at Zero,"The hell you call me? Huh?!"
"This man's name is Matthew Arkes. Ability: Big Bad Wolf. Sounds stupid but it is...very dangerous." Zero activated his ability again.
"Well that just gives us more time reason to stay." Chuuya ran forward, dodging the claws using his gravity manipulation.
Arkes quickly moved to the side, dodging Chuuyas kicks. He the spirited forward towards Dazai, avoiding Zero entirely.
"Dazai!" Zero and Chuuya called at the same time, both sprinting to his aid. Zero set a force field out in front of Dazai the tried to fling Arkes back at the same time.
The light purple tint of his ability began to wrap around his body as he strained himself to do both of these at once. "This guy is a mastermind of underground ability users in the Southern parts of America."
"And you're a mastermind of getting in my way." Arkes flung a claw at Zero who was unable to dodge.
"No!" Dazai yelled.
~
"I've missed you, son." Arkes smiled as he sat across from Zero.Zeros eyes darted around the room. His wrists were cuffed to a concrete wall, he was helpless.
He had fallen back into the hands of the man he'd went overseas to avoid. The one person he swore to never see again.
If only he had listened to Dazai.
Dazai.
"Where's Dazai? What did you do with him and Chuuya?" Zero asked, frantically looking around to see if they were nearby.
"Don't worry, they escaped. After they let me take you." Arkes crossed his legs as he grinned at me.
Zeros eyes widened, "Dazai wouldn't just leave me...!"
Arkes sighed,"You'd be surprised, Alastor. Did you truly think someone with a kill count over 200 would care about anyone? And you for that matter!" He laughed. "You're a weapon. Remember? MY weapon."
Zero stared at the ground,"Oh. Right..."
"We head home tomorrow. We'll get your little rebellious phase over with and get back to work. " Arkes picked up a sharp scalpel.
Zeros eyes filled with fear,"Wait. No! I'm sorry. Please don't hurt me. I'm cooperating, right?"
Arkes shook his head,"I'm sorry, son. You know what has to happen." The sharp object made contact with Zeros skin.
"Hey," A soft voice spoke.
"Huh?" Zero looked around. He was in a room filled with nothing but white walls and two chairs.
"How are you brother?" A little girl with long white hair and green eyes smiled and sat in the chair across from Zero.
Zero smiled softly, "Lily."
"I haven't seen you in a while. How are you?" Lily tilted her head and laid her hands in her lap.
"I have new friends! And I think my ability is getting more under control." Zero looked excited to tell his sister about this.
"New friends? You're abandoning me?" Lily's expression changed to anger. "Again? Just how you left me to die when we were younger?!"
Zero shook his head,"No! Lily I didn't mean to. I'm not abandoning you."
Lily stood up,"Liar. Have fun with the pain."
Zero opened his eyes and was met with the feeling of warm blood traveling down his body. He screamed and started sobbing.
"Make it stop. Lily, come back. Please..." He begged as his father continued digging into his arms and legs.
It didn't stop. Not for hours.
