Two Weeks Later
Zero woke up to the scent of burning meat. He sniffed and opened his eyes. "Dazai!"
"It's on fire!" Dazai was frantically running around.
Zero groaned and ran into the kitchen. He looked at the charred meat. There was no fire.
Dazai rubbed the back of his neck,"I tried to cook breakfast!"
"Ah..." Zero stared at it.
"I can't cook," Dazai muttered.
The room smelt horrible now and the smoke was overwhelming. Zero began cleaning,"You're a disaster Osamu. But...at least you're cute."
Dazai smiled, "I'm cute?"
"No," Zero grinned.
Dazai sighed,"Oh how devastating. Well, I guess you can't come with me for breakfast."
"I'm going to come anyway, Osamu," He smiled and patted Dazai's cheek before cleaning up the mess. It smelt horrific.
"I'm not paying!" Dazai slouched over one of the dining chairs.
Zero shook his head. That response was anticipated and quite easy to predict. Unfortunately, he had no money either so they'd have to borrow Kunikida's wallet.
"Hey, Zero. You and me are technically dating," Dazai said randomly, "I mean...we live together. Eat together. Sleep together. Share mostly everything..."
"Like friends!" Zero smiled.
Dazai pouted, he hated being friend zoned like that. He wished Zero would at least go along. Although, he knew he wouldn't. Zero loved to just tease and tease.
Just like old times.
~
Zero smiled,"That was really good.""Eh, my cooking would have been better..." Dazai had his arms crossed as they walked along the sidewalk.
"Food poisoning. We would have gotten food poisoning," the white haired man deadpanned.
Dazai laughed softly, "Probably. What a beautiful way to go out! Dying by eating such wonderful food."
This caused Zero to chuckle,"Ah yes, wonderful indeed."

Soon the pair got back to the apartment. Zero noticed Dazai's phone ringing,"Osamu, your phone..."
"Huh? Oh, ugh it's Kunikida," He picked it up and answered. His expression went from annoyed to worry in a matter of seconds. Dazai quickly grabbed his coat.
"What is it?" Zero looked confused and grabbed his own coat as well.
"Agency business. Stay here," He slipped the coat on and pocketed his phone.
"What? No. I'm coming," Zero said. He didn't understand why Dazai wanted him to stay.
"Damnit, Zero. No!" Dazai snapped. It had been nearly a year and a half since Zero had last seem him get angry, and he didn't think Dazai had ever used the name Zero for him. At least not in a long time.
"...why?"
"Because. This is to dangerous, don't leave the apartment," With that Dazai was gone without another word.
Zero let out a sound of frustration and slammed his fist into the wall. Since when was Dazai protective? He knew that Zero could handle himself perfectly, so why wouldn't he let him come along?
It didn't make any sense. He was now just annoyed.
"Maybe I'll leave out of spite...!" He said out loud,"Yeah I'll go to Poes' place."
There was a voice in the back of his head that screamed at him to not leave, to just stay and obey Dazai's words. He sat down, he'd listen to the voice for now.
As soon as Dazai got home he would give him a very long lecture.
