The room was dim as Zero stretched out and laid across Dazai's lap,"I'm boooored." He looked up at his lover who looked equally as bored.
"Hmm?" Dazai glanced down at him.
"Bored. Entertain me," He rolled over and buried his face in a pillow.
Dazai grinned,"How about we commit a beautiful double suicide together while-"
Zero glared at him. He knew Dazai wouldn't actually do it but him asking was still alarming enough. He didn't want to think about either of them dying.
"Sorry! Sorry...!" Dazai said quickly,"I was joking. I'd rather not have you die." He cupped Zero's cheek and kissed him gently.
"You need chapstick, " Zero muttered when Dazai pulled back. A small smile spread across his face as he said this.
Dazai rolled his eyes and picked Zero up and slung him over his shoulder, "That's it, I'm taking you to Kunikida."
Zero wiggled around and tried to free himself from Dazai's grip. He shook his head,"Anyone but him!"
Dazai sighed, "It must be done."
This was something they started doing often. Joking around and messing with each other was one of the ways they showed affection. There were other ways too, Dazai was more physical and Zero was verbal.
Dazai enjoyed cuddles whole Zero loved complimenting him.
"Pleeease don't send me away to Kunikida. He scares me," Zero shivered and kept trying to get free from Dazai.
"Then apologize."
Zero pouted.
"Oh well, off to Kunikida!"
"No!" Zero kicked around, "Let me go! Ok, ok, I'm sorry."
Dazai smiled and let Zero go,"Thank you, Alastor."
His partner glared at him.
Dazai only smiled more and glanced at the clock,"It's nearly time to get to the Agency."
"Ooh let's walk there!"
~
So they did, they set out a few minutes earlier so that they would be able to walk there without being to late.
Zero stood next to Dazai and held his hand. It was peaceful and sweet.
Every once and a while Zero would point out a different tree or flower as they walked which would make a smile appear on Dazai's face every time. He loved how Zero lit up at the sight of something he liked.
It was beautiful.
Numerous times Dazai found himself just admiring Zero. He felt as though he did not deserve him. There was no way. He, an ex-mafia executive with a list of crimes longer than he could remember, got to be in a relationship with this wonderful man next to him.
Dazai also didn't understand how Zero made him fall in love with him. He never thought he'd ever expirence true love, yet here he was.
Zero tugged on Dazai's shirt sleeve," Hey, is that Ranpo?"
Dazai looked ahead and saw Ranpo sitting on the ground with a confused expression.
Zero walked forward,"Oi! Edgowara!"
Dazai quickly pulled Zero back, just in time to stop an explosion from hitting Zero.
Zero held onto Dazai and stared at the damage ahead,"Oh so that wasn't Ranpo..." He backed up.
Dazai examined the area, now clouded with smoke,"Suicide bomber with an ability similar to Tanizakis I think. Looks like we're going to be late for work, aren't we?"
Zero nodded and activated Curiosity. He allowed a dome to form around him and Dazai.
"You ready, Osamu?" Zero glanced at Dazai who had already pulled out a gun.
"Ready," He grinned as the fight began.
~
Kunikida tapped his watch,"Late. Again. Do they have no concept of time?" He turned in his seat and faced Tanizaki,"Any sign of them?"
The ginger shook his head,"No, sorry."
Soon after, Zero entered the room followed by Dazai. They were both sweating and looked exhausted.
"The hell happened?" Kunikida looked the pair up and down. He looked slightly concerned now.
Zero didn't answer, he just walked over to his desk and plopped down in the chair. "Goodnight, " He said with a yawn and closed his eyes.
Dazai explained what happened, how they got ambushed by someone with a shape-shifting ability. How they lost said someone in a crowd of people.
Kunikida sighed, "Time to open up a new case. Ranpo, come here."
"Eh?" Ranpo glanced up from his bag of snacks,"No thanks."
Zero soon fell asleep.
