Natalia's P.O.V
---
It was quiet in the house.
I sat on a bed, drinking some water to ease my headache.
Aunt Valka, Hiccup, Minow, and Rose sat nearby while Toothless lay on the floor and watched with slight worry.
Rose fiddled with her fingers as she pondered what to say.
She had offered to explain because of my tired state, but at the rate we were going, I'd probably be fully rested before we even started explaining.
But, how do you explain something like this?
They were, a bit old fashioned?
I didn't know how they'd react to the truth.
Then again, they were all friends with huge fire breathing reptiles.
Maybe it wouldn't be that hard for them to except.
Every time I opened my mouth though, the words got caught in my throat.
I glanced around again.
Minow seemed to be taking this very well, though she probably had no idea what was going on.
Aunt Valka had worry lines on her forehead, and Hiccup had his thinking face on.
"This whole thing has something to do with your father, doesn't it?"
Hiccup suddenly asked, shattering the tense silence.
I nodded.
"Natalia, what's going on?" Aunt Valka asked gently.
I exchanged a glance with Rose, then sighed.
'Just do it fast, like ripping off a bandage,' I thought.
"Uhhh, I'm from the future, and so is Rose, and we've traveled back in time to search for my father who went missing three years ago." I stated.
Rose's eyes widened at my bluntness, then she seemed to shrug it off.
Time for the disbelief.
But...nope.
I stared at them shocked as Hiccup and Aunt Valka seemed taken aback, then nodded to each other like they had suspected it all along.
My eyes narrowed as I watched them.
"Why aren't you freaking out?"
I asked them.
"Gothi told us about a girl who would come soon, and she would be a time traveler," Hiccup said, shrugging.
"We don't know how she knows the stuff that she does, but she's always right, so we didn't question it, and have been waiting for this 'time traveler' ever since."
Okay?
I looked at Rose with a baffled look on my face, Rose's face nearly a mirror of my own.
"And you're not shocked??" I asked them slowly.
"Oh we're shocked," Aunt Valka said cheerfully. "But can you do about it? We'll get over it." she waved a hand dismissively.
A feeling of deep relief swept over me, and I didn't realize how tense I was until that moment.
"Frankly, I'm a little surprised you're taking this so well," I admitted.
Hiccup shrugged again.
"Well, Gothi did say a time traveler would come, plus, you zapped right in front of us. It didn't seem that far fetched after that when you told us you were a time traveler." he said.
Wow.
I really didn't expect that one.
I yawned.
Yup, I'd probably except this whole situation much better if I wasn't dead tired.
I seriously was about to fall of my perch on the bed.
Now that I think about it, I hadn't slept in nearly four days.
I was slowly starting to understand this time thing.
When I time traveled, it seemed I reached the destination within minutes. But in reality, traveling so far back in time took at least half an hour, sometimes multiple hours.
It depended on how far I went back.
We just didn't feel the time passing because we were suspended in time as we traveled through it.
Minow suddenly spoke up.
"I think it's cool," she said.
"Ha, so do I!" Rose exclaimed.
Minow and Rose high-fived.
Aunt Valka suddenly looked concerned. "Um, Nat honey, you probably shouldn't zap in front of anyone else though, they would have a harder time with it." she said.
I smiled widely at her.
"That won't be a problem Aunt Valka." I stated.
Aunt Valka smiled back and hugged both Rose and I.
Then she stood up.
"Get some rest you two," she said. "you won't be efficient in your search for your father if you're dead tired the whole time."
I nodded.
Very true.
"See you tomorrow Aunt Valka, Hiccup."
They both said goodnight with a smile then left with Minow, who had to return home.
"Interesting turn of events," Rose commented offhandedly after a moment of silence.
I smiled.
"You can say that again,"
More silence.
"Rose," I finally said. "do you think I'll ever find my father?"
Rose looked deep in thought for a moment.
"I don't really know," she admitted. "I'll admit, I was dubious at first, but now, I think you have a chance."
"I hope so."
We bid each other good night, then fell asleep.
