Natalia's P.O.V
---------I scrunched my eyes together tightly against the feeling of a tongue on my face.
"Stop Silas." I grumbled. My orange cat didn't stop. I reluctantly opened my eyes so I could see my cat to push him off my bed...That's not my ceiling...or my cat. I sat up with a start. "What the actual heck?" I mumbled looking around at the forested scenery. My memories rushed back all at once, causing me to jump up in shock.
That shock quickly turned to disgust as I looked down at my dress. Man, one day wearing a dress and I've already gone and done something stupid and girly like fainting. I thought to myself. Next thing you know, I'll be keeling over on a daily basis. If you didn't practically feel the sarcasm, well, I don't know actually... I stepped back cautiously from the small Dragon that sat at my feet, wracking my brains for the information I had picked up about dragons while looking at mom's old journals.
What was this one called? A Monstrous Nightmare? It looked like a baby. I looked at the small dragons that were playing off by the side of the clearing. Terrible Terrors was it? Lol, that's a terrible name, isn't it? I wonder what type of Terrible ridicule the man went through that made it up? Haha, I bet that guy had a pretty Terrible brain to come up with that one. Ha, I bet he-
Ok, I'll stop now. I bet you're groaning into your hands now. That's what mom always does when I try to crack some jokes. Not my strong suit.
I stretched my hand out to the little dragon, who after a moment of suspicious sniffing, licked my hand and proceeded to crawl up my arm, only to settle on my shoulders. I stiffened for a minute before relaxing and starting my trek to, Well, I don't know actually.
There had to be some sort of dwelling nearby. Because I vaguely remembered the Terrible Terrors fighting over chicken, and It had been cooked.
-----------
The trek was dangerous, to say the least.
Big dragons I had forgotten the names of, lumbered through the forest on regular intervals, while some of their buddies swooped and played in the sky overhead.
Thyme, that's what I named the baby Monstrous Nightmare that sat on my shoulders, seemed completely comfortable with this atmosphere. Me, I was freaking out just a little bit.
On one hand, I was proud that my mom was actually right. On the other, I was praying that I wouldn't like, just suddenly die from a Dragon. On a completely different hand, haha my third hand. Odd man out that one. Get it? Because it's-never mind. On another hand, my brain was like, 'Omg, we're gonna die, stuck in a random land somewhere, with no food. By golly no FOOD?! Yeah, dead meat over here. STUPID LEGS WALK FASTER!!!! Omg's, is that another dragon?!? Ughhhh...'
Yeah, that's the weird side of my brain.
I looked over.
"You look bored." I said to Thyme, who's head was drooping off my shoulder with a completely dead bored look on it's face. It blinked it's big eyes at me and yawned.
"Trees, trees, trees.." A female voice drifted to me from the small dragon.
"Where's the fire? Fires are fun to play with...I like fire." "You're weird," I commented back. With a strangled squawk, Thyme, which I now knew as a girl, flew off my shoulder and landed on the ground.
"Dragon whisperer." she hissed.
I scratched my head, confused. "I thought a lot of people spoke with dragons by Dragonese." I said to her in Dragonese. "Not many," she replied warily. "there is just one. The Viking boy. He is well known among Dragon kind for him and his Dragon partner's brave act."
From what I remembered, those journals of mom's had belonged to a Viking boy by the name of Hiccup. I assumed this Hiccup was the one other that spoke Dragonese.
"You mean Hiccup?" I asked. She looked at me. "Yes," she said, starting to relax again. "It is a rare skill for a human. Their tongues seem unable to form the sounds necessary to speak Dragonese." Approaching me, she sniffed me, then hissed again. "You smell like the dark one," I was a bit confused. "I smell like the what?" "Dark one," she snapped. "the Night Fury. I do not understand why though. Maybe something you ate. But...no, you are human, you would not eat rock minerals..." "Wait," I said, my mind kicking in again. "What would I have to eat to make me smell like this Night Fury?" She shrugged. "A mixture of rocks with minerals in it," she stated. "the Night Fury uses them to brighten his plasma blasts."
"What happens when these minerals mix?" I asked. "I am not really sure, they form this new mineral, a silvery liquid that burns very brightly." she said.
My eyes widened with this new information. "Nikoline Thresseyaloid." I whispered to myself. Suddenly, I felt overwhelmed. I wanted to see my mom. My mom. I gasped when I realized how long I had been gone from home. She was probably going out of her mind with worry. "I need to get home," I told Thyme. Her eyes narrowed. "Just where is your home?" she asked. "You act like no human I've ever met." I decide to just tell her. "I come from the future." I said. She blinked. "I don't believe you." she said flatly.
I got angry. No idea why, I just did. "Well, I don't care if you don't believe me," I said angrily. "I'm going home. In the future. Cuz that's where it is." "Fine," she said. "I'm coming with you." "What?" I asked. "You can't come with me! In the future, no one believes in Dragons, if someone sees you-" "I'm coming with you!" Thyme sang. I huffed, irritated. "Fine," I said wearily. We stood there for a minute as I tried to remember how to activate the time travel. "Well?" Thyme asked. "Any time now." "Be quiet," I snapped. "I'm trying to remember how to start the chemical reaction." I thought of mom, wherever she was, as hard as I could. Suddenly, the warm feeling started to creep down my arms. "Get ready!" I shouted to Thyme. Her claws sunk into my shoulders. I clapped my hands together and they turned cold. The bright flash came back, then everything dimmed.
I vaguely remembered flying super fast through layers of clear energy, then bursting through a harder layer, like I was reaching my destination.
