Natalia's P.O.V
-----
We landed with a thump by the great hall on Berk, then jumped off the Gronkles.
Toothless came running out to greet Hiccup, then he turned to me and licked my face.
"Aw Toothless!" I complained.
Hiccup laughed at my expression, while Toothless chortled at me.
"Next time you're bringing me Hiccup," Toothless said irritably at Hiccup. "how am I supposed to help anyone if you leave me behind?"
Hiccup scratched his ears. "sorry bud, but that island was full of Dragon Root. It would've make you go nuts."
Toothless huffed, but didn't answer.
Aunt Valka came running out just then.
"Hiccup, Astrid, Natalia, you're okay!" she called, running up to us and hugging us one by one.
I smiled absentmindedly.
"We're fine Aunt Valka," I said.
"But we won't be for long," Hiccup cut in.
"Mom, the man that kidnapped Astrid and Natalia is Drago's son, and he's coming here right now, as we speak."
Aunt Valka gasped, then an angry look passed over her face.
"We'd better set up the defenses then Hiccup," she said determinedly.
Hiccup nodded.
"But mom, there's one more thing you need to know," he replied. "while we were on Dragon-Bane island, we found someone else there too."
Oh boy.
Here it came.
Aunt Valka looked curious.
"Who is it?" she asked.
My dad stepped forward, and smiled at Aunt Valka.
"Valka, it's good to see you again little sis," he said warmly.
Aunt Valka looked confused, but only for a moment.
"Desmond!" she cried out, running to hug him.
I smiled at the cute sight, but then a wave of homesickness hit me.
Well, not exactly homesickness, more like people-sickness.
I missed my mom.
Sure, I had found my dad, my best friend Rose was with me, I had a new friend-Minow-and I had found more family, but they hadn't been there for my whole life like my mom had.
Quite frankly, I was uncomfortable with my dad, and I needed the support of my mom.
And now we were going into a war with a feared enemy.
My mind flashed back to the Night Fury I had seen, and the promise I had made to her.
I would keep my promise and free her, but on that I was stuck.
Just how to do this?
I looked at my dad chatting with Aunt Valka, Hiccup, and Rose. Rose and my dad remembered each other because Rose had spent so much time at my house, and she was like another daughter to him.
As I watched them, an idea slowly came together in my mind.
I subconsciously glanced around to see if anyone was watching, as if they could read my mind.
My idea was this; Warrath was coming and there would for sure be a huge fight.
I had faith that Hiccup and his friends would win, but for war, I was useless.
I would only get in the way.
Surely amidst the chaos and confusion of a battle, I would not be missed.
I could travel to Dragon-Bane island, and free the Night Fury.
"Natalia, whatever you're thinking, it's not a good idea."
I looked up in surprise to see Astrid standing in front of me.
"W-what are you talking about?" I asked, cursing myself for stuttering.
"Listen, I've seen that look on my face countless times when I look in the mirror," she said softly.
"it's the look of you planning to do something to help another, even if it might endanger your own life."
I stared at her.
I didn't know what to say.
"Do what you have to do," Astrid added quietly. "but take into consideration how others would feel if something were to happen to you."
I nodded.
"I'll be careful," I replied quietly.
Astrid nodded in return.
"Guys, we have to go," Hiccup's voice cut into our conversation.
I looked to see everyone waiting for Astrid and I.
We started walking with purpose towards the great hall, where again the babies and elderly were being brought to, to protect them.
Once we got there, Hiccup went into chief mode and started ordering everyone into useful battle formations, and handing out weapons.
The dragon riders got ready to saddle up, for they would be on the front line, trying to damage the ships, and taking out the catapults.
Just then, I giant horn blew, echoing across the island.
"Hostiles spotted on the horizon!!" a Viking called out.
I saw Hiccup, Aunt Valka, and my dad ushering all teenagers into the great hall, including Minow and Rose.
I discreetly started walking away, because I knew that if I was brought in there, I would not be able to leave without someone noticing.
Hopefully they would think I was already somewhere in the hordes of people in the great hall.
As I made my way to the beach and to a large dinghy, a dagger flashed out of nowhere and stuck to the side of the boat.
I jumped back in surprise, then turned to see Astrid sitting nearby on her Dragon.
"Take the dagger," she told me. "I've had it for a long time, and it's always helped me out in times of need."
I wrenched the dagger out of the wood and looked at it.
It had a finely carved wooden handle, and sharp, flashing blade.
I felt strangely touched that Astrid would give me her dagger.
"Thank you," I told her sincerely.
She smiled.
"You're Hiccup's cousin, and my new friend. Heck, we got kidnapped together. I want you to come back unharmed." she said.
I looked at her.
"You're a good friend," I said.
Astrid grinned at me, a gleaming smile of pearly whites.
Then she took off on Stormfly, and flew back to where the others where.
As I got in the small boat, and drifted away from shore, I looked back as just down the shore, a giant war cry echoed out as the first ships touched the shoreline.
