"So how's the family life treating you?" JoAnn asked. Her chair creaked slightly in protest at her question as she leaned back. She just couldn't leave well enough alone.
I finished signing the papers on the coffee shop before tossing the pen at her. She let out a tsk as it bounced off her chest leaving a nice mark on her white blouse before landing on the cherry laminate desk.
"Oh c'mon! You really didn't think I'd just let you off the hook, now did you? After all the shit he's caused you and now you have him claim so girl who barely know and just came out of an abusive relationship, I might add. He might even be on a tight leash but I still don't get it."
"And you don't need to."
"I give up!" She mumbled opening a drawer and tossing me a set of keys."
"It's about time." Dropping the keys into my purse, I got up to leave. I really didn't want to deal with this.
"Wait! I'm just worried about you. You don't exactly have the best track record of making smart decisions. This being without a doubt, one of your dumber ones, I couldn't not say something."
Rolling my eyes, my phone went off before I could say something back. It was probably for the best.
"Hello" I answered
"Hello. Is Crystal available?" A young woman asked in a voice I didn't recognize."
"Speaking."
"Good morning, Miss Reeves. I'm Kelly calling for PERK and I'm calling about your appointment."
My heart jumped, lodging in my throat as I felt my heart speed up and sweat start forming in my forehead. What were they calling me for was something wrong?
"Yes" was all that I could manage to get out. JoAnn stood up and was staring with a concerned look on her face. Her werewolf and sister senses going off like crazy. I took a couple steps back towards the door for some privacy.
"I'm just calling to inform you that we've recently brought in a few more specialists so if you would like, I can schedule your procedure with us a bit earlier. This is totally optional. Would this interest you?"
Holy shit! Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy- you damn well better answer her, Crystal! Oh right! Common sense breaking in and getting my brain working again.
"Yes." Still unable to say anything more. This time it wasn't from fear but excitement. I could hardly stand still as I listened to her for over twenty minutes giving me dates and talk about the new doctors.
As much as I wanted it like twenty years ago, I decided to stick with Dr. Lee. While I'm sure the others were fine I hadn't studied dozens of photos of the vaginas they made. Kimberly had a good reputation.
"Well…" my sister chimed in when I got off.
"Oh it's nothing. I just won the lottery is all. You're not only forgiven, I'm going to even let you win. You were right about everything. Happy? Good! So am I. Let'sleave it like that shall we?" i said with a squeak
"Hello! I heard the whole thing. We have really good hearing and can smell bullshit miles away, Crystal. Have you forgotten? "
Fuck! That got me to calm down a bit... only a bit. Stupid werewolves! The council should make a law about turning nosy sisters. There's no such thing as privacy with that combination.
"So you're actually going to go through with it? And now? With Jake and that girl at your trailer. What if something goes wrong? Who's going to take care of you? Don't tell me they will! Jesus christ, you need to think! Barbara just had her boobs done and she's had nothing but problems-"
