I definitely felt like the odd girl out wearing a sweater and thick jacket among Nancy, Sasha, Danny, and Chris. It wasn't all that cold with the weather Channel app reporting thirty-five but the wind was cutting through my layers causing my entire body to shiver.
I didn't have the chance to think about that with everything going on including an excited Sasha who if anyone saw her would likely guess she just won the lottery. I knew better than to suggest she come, something that Nancy predictably raised a brow to. I just told her I was trying to get along with her which wasn't exactly untrue.
People were still scattered about, maybe a dozen or so as we walked past the restrooms near Tubb's Hill. A then layer of snow covered the walkway and grass just enough to leave footprints. It was actually beautiful this time of year, something that despite living here most of my life I seldom saw being broke and stuck in the valley.
As we approached the lake, loud rock music was playing that I was fairly sure was from The Pretty Reckless. A group of people partied on and around a large yacht that was parked at one of the docks. I couldn't tell how many but it looked fairly pack. With the college nearby I guess it wasn't totally surprising.
"Hey, wanna party? Come join us!" A young guy yelled walking towards us without a jacket and a young blonde girl under his arm who wore a Cardinals football jacket that was way too big for her.
"We need more girls. You go here?"
"Brian! The girl with him said shocked, slapping him on his arm."
"What, we do! Anyway, if not, it doesn't matter. Nobody has checked ID's. We got food, beer, games, all free. If you're willing to jump in the lake, you can even score twenty bucks. Here's a tip: if you do it, make sure you're close to a ladder. The water is fucking freezing!"
"I still can't believe you did that." The blonde teased.
I couldn't believe anyone still did that but it's been a tradition here as long as I can remember.
"We're just looking for someone. You should message them, this is ridiculous." Nancy said irritated. Drunks are drunks. College kids, adults, or werewolves I didn't see much difference other than maybe the amount of nudity."
"You better have my money ready!" I looked over as a brunette in nothing but her panties ran and jumped off the boat landing in the water with a loud splash. On second thought, there really wasn't any difference at all. Drunks are drunks.
Nancy scowled at the scene before turning to leave when a voice yelled down from the deck "leaving so soon? The party is just starting."
Lizzy stood leaning over a rail with a large wine glass in hand dressed in black jeans, a black sweater that covered her arms and silver jewelry that covered most everything else. Unlike her usual provocative attire she looked rather normal aside from the thick makeup plastered on.
"We're not here for games. What's with all of this?" Nancy
"How many others do you have sniffing around here? You can't blame Anna for taking precaution. Come inside before there's a scene. We can talk there."
I'd often heard of such lavish spending but seeing it was something else. I had always thought boats were a giant waste of money and this thing had to cost millions. I figured Anna had money but this much?
The floors were dark hardwood that looked like it was polished only hours ago. Dark burgundy leather furniture with a entertainment center that looked like something only a movie star would own
"Now this is what I'm talking about. You own this?" Sasha asked not even trying to hide how impressed she was.
"I wish. It's only a rental I'm afraid. I've tried countless times to get Anna to buy one but she hates the water. A tragedy in her mortal life I think." Lizzy answered leading us down a tight stairway.
