The gate was open when I arrived at the property. I could see Gena waving her arms around at a small group of people who near her front door. Even from this distance and my windows only cracked I could hear her yelling up a storm but I couldn't make out what she was saying.
She was dressed down from her normal attire and only had a simple grey sweats and a shirt. Upon hearing me arrive she turned to me. The others broke away seeing their chance to escape.
"Where the fuck have you been? After everything I've done for you… That bloodsucker you were living with tried to kill me lastnight. Why, Crystal? I thought you understood what was going on. Now as soon as her mother wakes up we're going to have the vampires all over us."
"She's not telling Anna. She only wanted to impress her by finding Amber. She's scared of what her mother will do if she finds out, so just calm down.
"Don't tell me to calm down! Anna owns her. There's not a chance she's going to be able to keep it from her and once she finds out, you better believe she'll drain every last drop of worth from it. She's already been going on about the human, when she tells them I'm trying to kill Elizabeth…"
"If you didn't-"
"It won't matter! Would you wake up? All she is going to care about is now she has everything she needs to make our lives hell."
Standing next to her she had a few light bruises and scratches but aside from that, she looked relatively unhurt. A large contrast to Lizzy's condition. While I had been hoping for her to be well on the drive over here i was now doubting my choice as I recognized Tyra coming out of a trailer with two other guys and a blonde girl. I didn't recognize her but something told me she had been at Lynns.
I watched as Tyra walked quickly around the back of Gena's place with her head down doing her best to avoid us. Me or Gena, I wasn't sure. Maybe both. I also noticed a limp in her step that said she had been hurt.
"Look Lizzy is scared like I said so just tell him to let Amber go and then there won't be anything for Anna to have investigated." She might not, but I would.
"I'm not taking you-"
"Actually, she's right. This situation has gotten out of hand and I should've never let it get this far. Terry, grab two other's and meet us at Bob's. The rest of you stay here. Don't let anyone on or off the property till we return."
Max said in a serious tone making me jump a little as he approached from my behind. He was shirtless with nothing on but some sweatpants. Gena shot him a look only to lower her head seconds later. I heard no exchanging of words between them but there was no doubt that there were some and judging from Gena it wasn't good.
They were breaking a number of laws human and paranormal. If Max was sensing The Council or Grave Watchers was about to act then both me and Amber are in some serious trouble. I glanced at Max again the defined back muscles seeming to pulse as he walked made it clear. He was only dressed in so little because he was planning on shifting.
"C'mon, let's get this over with." Gena said grabbing my arm. The change in her composure was more than noticable confirming my suspension.
We rode in separate vehicles. I rode with Max and Gena while the others followed along in a Tundra truck. The whole time I felt like I was going to my execution and trying my best to not to let them know what I suspected.
I had only visited Tacoma a few times since arriving in the area so I had no idea where we were when we pulled in what I assumed to be a junkyard. There was a cyclone fence around the place but no front gate.
The place was filthy. The ground was dirt with large holes scattered everywhere. On each side of uslwas everything from gutted cars to old appliances, trailers of various conditions, bikes and more in mazelike rows and making it difficult to tell how big the place was. The stench was overwhelming even for me, I couldnt imagine what it was like for the werewolves seeing as I didn't want to try reading those with me. Was Amber really living here?
