(Y/N)'s POV
"Where am I?" You said out loud to yourself with a weak voice. As you take in your surroundings, you realize you are somewhere you've never been before. You were in a bed, in a plain room, with multiple empty beds to your left.
You didn't really know what to do, or where to go. You tried to remember the last thing that happened to you. "I remember the demon, and her throwing an orb at me. After that, it's all blurry." You thought to yourself. Your head was pounding, and when you pushed yourself off the bed, you winced at the pain coming from your left shoulder. "Where did this come from?" You wondered, looking at the bandages.
You took a peek outside, to see what time it was. The sun was rising, but you didn't know how long you had been asleep for. You made your way out the doorway. You knew you probably should've waited till someone came to check on you, but you were curious.
You walked a couple of feet till you came upon a door that was slightly ajar. As you peaked in, you saw a young women with black and purple hair, and a pretty butterfly pin in her hair jotting stuff down in a notebook. You lightly knocked on her door. Startled, she looked up, with widened eyes. "Ah! (Y/N)! You are awake! Glad to see you can walk!" "Did I really get beat up that badly?" You thought to yourself? "Please come in!" The kind lady said as she motioned to the chair in front of her.
"My name is Shinobu Kocho! I am the insect pillar here at Head Quarters! How are you feeling? You took some hard hits out there." she said to me with a sympathetic smile. "Never better." you said sarcastically. "Everything hurts."
"Hm, I'm not surprised. Well, how about you go back to your bed to rest, and I'll be in there with some medicine in just a minute. We can talk about what happened, and what we can do to get you rehabilitated. Sound good?" she said, never losing her smile. "Works with me. Thank you for your help." She nodded as you walked back to your bed, wondering the whereabouts of the man that so bravely saved you.
About 10 minutes later, you heard a knock on your door. "Come in!" Shinobu peaked her head in, "Mind if I bring in a visitor?" she asked "Oh, not at all!" You responded, wondering who it was.
She entered the room first, and then there he was. The man who saved your life. You sat up higher, forgetting the pain it caused your shoulder. Immediately you stiffened, from the pain, and from his presence. His deep blue eyes met yours and it felt as if he was looking into your soul.
"I-I don't even know how to begin to thank you!" You stuttered. "If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be alive right now." "I'm just doing my job as a fellow demon slayer." He said, with little emotion in his voice. You gulped. His eyes didn't leave yours, and you felt like he could see right through you.
"I'm going to leave this right here," Shinobu said, setting down 2 capsules and a glass of water. "Take that, it'll help with your shoulder. I'll leave you two to talk about what happened for a while, since (Y/N), I'm sure you don't have a full recollection of what happened?" she was right. You nodded your head, and with that, she made her way out.
"Could I know your name please?" You said to him quietly as he sat down at the foot of your bed, his body facing you. "Giyuu Tomioka." he said. Your heart was racing. He looked like a painting, and it was nearly impossible not to get lost in his blue eyes. "Ah, well Mr. Tomioka, it is nice to meet you. Again, I wanna thank you for saving me." You inched closer to him, bending your knees up and wrapping your arms around them. It was painful, but you wanted to get closer to him.
"No need for formalities," He said, "Just call me Giyuu, you are only a year younger then me. Shinobu and I looked up your record." Surprised, you responded "Oh, I didn't know you kept records for all demon slayers." You couldn't believe you were only one year younger than him. He seemed so grown, so mature, so mysterious and majestic.
Instead of continuing the conversation you both had started, he abruptly asked, "Why on earth did you run for that toy after you saw that boy disappear?" Embarrassed and kind of taken aback, you responded "Well, I figured it was the only way to put an end to that nasty demon. By the time I would've found it, I'm sure the boy would've already been dinner." you said with confidence.
"How did you find us?" you asked. He stared for a moment, without saying anything. Finally he said, "I sniffed the demon out." "Ah, see that's where you and I are different, Giyuu. Sadly, none of my senses are strong enough to find a demon that's miles away. I had to resort to other measures." You could tell he was impressed with your answers. With what you could tell from his personality, he probably would've snapped back with some other sort of comment if he didn't like what you said.
"Well," he began "when I arrived, you were attacking, while it attacked you. I quickly got it over with and went to try and patch you up as best I could." You smiled at him, but his features didn't change. He continued "Then I found the little boy that had been kidnapped, and returned him to his family , who were already looking for him."
Your eyes widened in shock. You had completely forgotten about the little boy. "Oh my, you didn't just save my life, you saved an innocent little boy's life too!" You had cracked him. His cheeks flushed a light pink and he quickly looked down. "It's nothing." he muttered. You reached for his hand, partly to reassure him that it wasn't "nothing" and also, you wanted to feel him. "What you did was incredible! I really owe you one." you said, lightly squeezing his hand, then letting go.
He watched your hand as it went back to where it was before, and then he looked up at you again. "You train in breath of water, right?"
"Yes! Don't tell me that's what you use too?" you said, hoping he'd agree. "I'm a Hashira here. I'm the Water Pillar." he said. Your mouth dropped open, star struck. "I-i don't have words." you stuttered.
"It really isn't that big of a deal." he said shyly "Listen, how would you like to stay here, and train with me? I've been told to find me a tsuguko, in case something were to ever happen to me. I think you'd be a good fit here" he said with little emotion. "Oh, wow..." you said quietly.
For the first time since he came into the room, you looked away from him, lost for words. "I mean I would love to train with you, but it's scary to think that something could potentially happen to you." you said with care in your voice. "Never mind that, it's just worst case scenario." You looked at him again, he seemed to really want to take you as his trainee. "I'd love to!" you answered
"Great. Focus on getting better, and once your healed, we can begin training." You nodded as he stood up and made his way out the door. " I will see you then." he said walking out of the room.
