-Little disclaimer here! The demon mentioned in this story is completely made up by me, it's not a spoiler in anyway!

Giyuu's POV

After a couple of hours of scouting for the demon, I finally caught on to the smell. "This way." I nodded to (Y/N). As we crept closer to an alley, it got stronger by the step.

"Ah, there are the humans I saw in my vision. If you don't pick a fight, I promise your deaths will be very quick." It mocked. I wasted no time, I readied my sword and ran around the corner to quickly decapitate it.

"Ah, a demon slayer!" It said excited. "This should be fun!" Before my eyes, the demon seemed to vanish into thin air. "Is it really that fast?"

The demon was blind, its eyes empty, yet it had an eye centered in on its forehead. Above its eye, it had a bandana, and multiple intricate markings on its face. Ragged layers of clothes covered its body, and in it's hands, it held a crystal ball.

"GIYUU! OVER HERE! (Y/N) called out. The demon had reappeared onto the street. As I took a closer look, the eye on its forehead had a number scratched into it. "Lower Six" "It's a 12 Kizuki." (Y/N) gripped her sword harder. "Remember what I taught you." I told her.

I thought to myself "I should've left her sleeping, I should've left her at the hotel so she would be safe. If something happens to her, I don't know what I'd do. I want to tell her how I truly feel someday."

"Hmm, what is that young man?" the demon asked. "You're a disgusting Kizuki." I said with anger. "No no, your thoughts. You wanna tell this girl how you really feel? You want to protect her from me? Hahahaha how thoughtful!" the demon mocked. I felt (Y/N) shoot me a quick glance, but then went right back to keeping her eyes glued to the demon.

It can read minds. And it just told (Y/N) that I feel something for her. This demon is getting to my head. "I need to focus. I need to breathe." As I got myself together, the demon vanished again, appeared right behind (Y/N) and took her back to where it was previously standing, holding her arms behind her.

"You won't be able to tell her you love her if I kill her, hm?' The demon laughed as your blood boiled harder and harder.

"Hey demon, why don't you read my mind for a change?" Instantly, the demon winced in pain, and (Y/N) was able to get out from its grip. "You stupid girl!" the demon yelled as (Y/N) ran around behind it gaining speed. "THINK ABOUT WISTERIAS GIYUU!"

What an amazing idea. The only thing you focus on were the purple flowers and your breathing. Quickly, (Y/N) preformed the First Form, removing the hands of the demon, letting the crystal ball fall to the ground. That was your chance to strike. You concentrated on the Fourth Form, and cut through the demon with ease, removing its head.

The smell of ash filled the air and the demon began to disappear. "Bet you didn't see that one in your stupid crystal ball, you dumb demon." (Y/N) said.

"Let's go." you said to (Y/N), wanting to leave this village.

You didn't want to face (Y/N) and tell her how you felt. You were angry. You let your emotions drive you. Your concentration wasn't where it needed to be. You were letting her take control and it was causing your performance to falter. If you didn't stop this, something could happen to (Y/N), and it would be your fault.

You just wanted to get back to headquarters, and never speak of this day again.

Your POV.

The words the demon said replayed over and over in your head on the run back to headquarters. Normally, after a mission is when you could get the most words out of Giyuu. But tonight, he ran far ahead of me and didn't say a single word.

"Was he embarrassed, because there really was no reason to be?"Maybe because it was a 12 Kizuki, he wanted to get back to the head master and tell him any info. After a long run, you finally came across the beautiful wisterias.

You met back up with Giyuu inside his estate. "Why'd you run ahead so fast?" you asked him nicely. "No reason." he said with a slightly angry voice. "Is everything okay?" you questioned with concern in your voice. "Yeah. Go get some rest, we'll resume training mid afternoon." he said coldly. You knew there was something wrong, he didn't speak to you like that even when you barley knew him.

You took his advice and slept for a couple hours till middle afternoon. The sun was a bright orange and it filled the room up with glowing warm air. You worried about Giyuu, and why he was acting different.

You then went outside to train. He was getting everything ready when you greeted him. "Good afternoon Giyuu!" he didn't answer. You were starting to get upset.

You readied your wooden sword and begin following his teachings. No words were exchanged for a while, until you took a moment to dry the sweat off your forehead. "Giyuu," you began "what is wrong with you? I can tell something is up"

"Stop asking me if I'm okay (Y/N). You think you know everything about me, but guess what, you don't!" He yelled at you. "Excuse me?" you asked, astonished that he would ever speak to you that way. "You are trying to change me into something I'm not." he continued with the same angry voice. "I'm not your boyfriend, I'm not your best friend. I'm your trainer."

You couldn't believe that the words coming out of his mouth were his. You felt tears forming but you pushed any sign of sadness away.

"Why are you even a demon slayer anyways? Your lucky you still have your family! You don't know what it's like to lose someone to a demon!" He yelled, growing even angrier.

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" you yelled back, scared you might lose it. "You think you know me so well too, but you don't either. YOU don't know that my mother died giving birth to me. YOU don't know that my father can barley pick up a pen to write me a letter, or lift his arm up high enough to hug me back because he is so sick and fragile!" Tears formed as you could no longer hold them back anymore.

"PLUS, WHO ARE YOU TO SAY WHO CAN BE A DEMON SLAYER AND WHO CAN'T? JUST BECAUSE I HAVEN'T LOST MY FAMILY TO A DEMON DOESN'T MEAN I'M WEAK!" Tears fell from your eyes. This is the last thing you ever wanted to do.

"The fact that you can't form a relationship with anyone because your scared they'll die makes you weak, Tomioka. You are so worried about how others act that you don't worry to look at your weaknesses and fix them. I TRIED TO GET TO KNOW YOU BECAUSE I CARE ABOUT YOU. But I guess that doesn't matter to you." You threw your sword on the floor and stomped off, not letting him answer you.

You ran to your room, tears uncontrollably streaming down your face, wondering why he said those things to you, and wondering if you'd ever be able to forgive him for it.
