Your POV
After 3 hours of brutal training, he finally called it for the day. With sweat dripping down your face you fell to the floor. Your shoulder begin to bug you, but you didn't say anything, scared he might send you away. You were getting desperate for human interaction, considering you didn't get much in the infirmary.
"Well, well, well who do we have here?" a man with wide eyes and spiky white hair said. "Yeah Tomioka! How are you going to bring back such a pretty girl and not introduce her to us!?" said another man with flame like hair, and eyes very unique.
"To put it simply, I don't want her to get distracted by you two." Giyuu said without giving them too much of his attention.
"What's the fun in that, Tomioka?" The white haired guy mocked. Giyuu rolled his eyes. You could tell he was annoyed. "I'm (Y/N)!" you said, trying to break up the tension. "Ah! Well its nice to meet you, (Y/N)! My name is Kyojuro Rengoku! I am the flame Hashira here!" He had lots of expression in his voice, unlike Giyuu. "And I'm Sanemi Shinazugawa, the wind Hashira, and if you ever get bored of good ole Tomioka over there, I can always take you on as my tsuguko." he said with a devilish smile.
"It's nice to meet you both, and thanks for the offer! But, I can tell Tomioka and I here are in this together for the long haul." You looked at Giyuu, and noticed he wasn't as tense as he was seconds ago. "Just think on it sweetie." He said with a wink. "We'll be going now! Rengoku said, noticing Giyuu's anger. As they walked away you got up and faced him.
You could tell he was slightly jealous. "What's wrong? Do you not get along with them? you asked. "It's nothing." He said quietly. "Well, if it makes you feel better, your way cuter than them." you said to him in a flirty way. He looked up at you in surprise, as you continued "I'm going to go take a shower now. I'll find you once I'm done!" you said to him with a smile. You walked off, before he had time to say anything about your "cute" remark.
Giyuu's POV
As we got done training, I sensed Rengoku and Shinazugawa's presences making their way towards where me and (Y/N) were. "Great." I thought to myself, I know they're going to hit on her, when she's my tsuguko. I can't help but feel protective over her. The two mocked me and then introduced themselves, and (Y/N) introduced herself back.
"Shinazugawa, like always, thought he could charm any female in his view, but surprisingly (Y/N) didn't seem too interested." I thought to myself. I tried to hide my jealousy, but (Y/N) could tell there was something wrong. I assured her it was nothing when she said "Well if it makes you feel better, your cuter than them." then swiftly left to go rinse off.
Her words felt like a punch in my stomach, yet it didn't hurt, it felt good instead. I hadn't ever heard anyone say that to me and it was scary, but it felt good. I felt myself caring for (Y/N) on more of a deeper level, but I knew I couldn't let that happen. I was to train her, not fall in love with her.
"She just said that to make me feel better. Not because it's true." I told myself as I pushed the feelings of love I had far down, where I couldn't reach them.
Your POV
It had been weeks since properly washing your long (Y/C) hair due to the fact that you couldn't reach with your left arm, because of your shoulder.* So you took your time to enjoy the hot water and the feeling of being clean. Thoughts of Giyuu in the shower with you filled your ambitious mind as you giggled to yourself. "Damn (Y/N), you are wrapped around his finger." you thought.
When you were done showering, you took some time to brush out your long hair and you let it down to air dry. You changed into some comfier clothes and headed into the kitchen, wondering if that's where you'd find Giyuu. He wasn't in there, but you sat down anyway and began writing a letter to your family. You hadn't heard from them since you made it to HQ and you were starting to get worried. "I haven't even seen my crow, so maybe he's having trouble finding me." you reassured yourself.
Halfway through your letter is when Giyuu walked into the kitchen. "There you are." He said, expressionless, like always. Your eyes met and you noticed his hair wasn't tied back either. It was down, and not as poofy since it looked like he had just washed it. His eyes trailed your long hair. You could tell he was lost in thought, so you continued writing your letter.
"What are you doing?" he asked, seeming to care. "I am writing a letter to my family. I haven't heard from them since I've been here, but I think it's because my crow hasn't found me yet. He tends to get lost." you said, sounding kind of worried. "I'm sure your family is doing just fine." He said back to me.
Suddenly, he averts his gaze to the window. "(Y/N)," you look up at him as he nods over to the window he was looking at. You turn around to see your crow, with a letter taped to his little foot. You open the window to let him in, remove the letter and he proceeds to fly back out. You realize that attached to him were 2 letters. The weight on your shoulders loosens when you open up a letter from your family addressed to you. You breathe a sign of relief, thankful that they were okay. Even though you were relieved, you felt your heart pounding.
The letter read:
"Not a day goes by where your father and I don't think about what a courageous women you are. You are selfless, loving and just like your mother in every which way. She would be so proud of you. Your father and I are happy that you are safe. What you explained to us in your last letter really frightened us, and every night we pray for your safety. I hope you stay in touch with the young man who saved your life, because if you two are ever near home, you must bring him by so that I can thank him personally for saving my precious girl. For now, I wrote him a thank you, that will suffice until I'm able to thank him in person.
Take care of yourself, my sweet granddaughter. Never let anyone take the light from your eyes."
Your eyes filled with tears as you read the letter to yourself in your grandmother's voice. As you closed it up, you turned your attention to the other letter that was address to "My granddaughter's hero" You looked up at him and said "Here, this is for you. My grandmother wrote it."
He was surprised. He opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. He took the letter and opened it up to read. "If you don't mind, could you read it aloud?" you asked. He nodded and began,
"Giyuu, my heart hurts knowing that my granddaughter was almost killed by one of those monsters. If it weren't for you, I would never get to see her beautiful smile again, taste the delicious cookies she used to bake, feel her warm hug after being gone for weeks, saving people from harm. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, her father and I will forever pray for your safety too. What you are doing is wonderful, and I hope you continue to fight for what is right."
More tears fell from your eyes as he finished reading. "Your grandmother sounds like a wonderful person." He said "I rarely get letters, so I will be sure you write her back shortly." You nodded and smiled at him. "There is an office, just around the corner from your room, please feel free to use that to write your letters, I don't get the pleasure of using that space very much." he said. "Thank you, Giyuu. I will take you up on that offer. I'm going to go put this in a safe place." You said to him as you walked to your room to compose yourself.
You sat on your bed, and thought about your family. You missed them, but that letter was what you needed to keep pushing through.
