Your POV

Early the next morning, you woke up and began to get ready for the training day ahead. You reached for your uniform when you remembered the skirts Mitsuri had gifted you. "Hm, let's surprise him." You felt closer with him after dinner last night. He still didn't say much, but there was a good feeling between the both of you that you sensed.

Instead of putting your hair in a low bun like you usually did, you decided to do a long braid, hoping Giyuu would notice. When you were done getting ready, you went to the kitchen. Giyuu was in there cleaning his katana. "Good morning!" you said to him cheerfully. He looked up at your for a second, to return your greeting, but quickly did a double take, when he realized you looked different.

"Good morning." He said shakily. "Your hair..." "What about it?" you asked, trying to act like you didn't do it that way for him. "It looks nice like that." he finished. His voice was a little raspy, since he had probably just gotten up, but it also sounded nervous. "Thanks, I think I'll start wearing it like this more often!"

As you stirred honey into your tea, Giyuu's crow pecked at his window. "DEMON SPOTTED SOUTH! DEMON SPOTTED SOUTH! CAW! GO NOW!"

"Duty calls." Giyuu said, "Want to come with me on this one?" "Yes!" you responded. You both gathered your things and took off.

About 4 hours later, you both made it to the destination. Giyuu was much faster than you, and always ran ahead, but not far enough to leave you too far behind. You figured it was his way of avoiding your endless questions and constant chatter. "Let's split up and see what we can find." you suggested. Giyuu nodded and walked off.

Since you didn't get to finish your tea that morning, you went into a cafe and ordered yourself one and sat down. When the waitress brought it to you, you asked her, "Have their been any disappearances in the village recently? Fear instantly showed in her eyes. "Uh- actually yes. Why must you know? I've never seen you here before." "Just stopping through." you responded. "What's been happening?" She took a big gulp and began "Every night, for the past 3 nights, people have been going missing without a trace. People that have never given anyone any reason to disappear, just vanished. One night it was a young mother, the next night, a teenage boy." you politely smiled at her, "Thank you for the tea, and the information." She nodded and walked off.

Five minutes later, you saw Giyuu walk in. His eyes scanned the room until the met yours, and he walked over to you. There was a table of girls sitting right by the door, that watched him with big eyes and giggled at each other, as he walked by them. As he sat down in front of you, the girls glared at you,  obviously jealous. It took every ounce of energy you had to not giggle yourself.

"Did you find anything?" you asked him. "Just heard of a couple going missing, that's all. What about you?"

"So far I've heard the same. What do you do when you can't tell of a pattern?" I asked "Just find it an kill it." Typical Giyuu answer.

He got up from his seat. " We should get some rest. I'll go get us a room at the hotel just across the street. Meet me over there when your done." he said. "Wait! I am done, I'll go with you." You followed behind him, a little closer than you normally would. You were worried one of those girls would try to say something to him, so just to be sure they wouldn't, you went with him.

At the hotel, Giyuu asked for a room, but you noticed he forgot to specify two beds. You didn't say anything since you didn't mind at all sharing a bed with him. You followed him to you all's room and when he noticed just one big bed, he tensed up. "I can sleep on the floor." he said. "Oh please," you began, wanting him to sleep by your side " there's plenty of room, you won't even know I'm there."

He got into the bed first, obviously tired. "I didn't sleep very well last night. If I sleep too long, just wake me up when the sun is going down." "Sure," you responded "sleep well."

A minute later you slipped into the bed too. You laid down, not very tired yourself. You turned on your side, to face Giyuu. His back was turned to you of course. You listened to his breathing. He was so quiet, but breath after breath, you heard him slowly drift off into sleep. You closed your eyes and tried to rest. About 10 minutes later, you heard him shuffle around.

He had turned around in his sleep, and he was facing you. You opened up your eyes to look at him. He looked so calm and relaxed. You studied his face: it was flawless, not a mark or scar touched it. Even though his eyes were closed, you remembered their color so perfectly. That was probably your favorite part about him. Your eyes met his lips. They looked soft, probably untouched by any other female. You wanted to feel them on yours so bad. You wanted to run your fingers down his face and through his hair.

It was frustrating feeling those things, yet not being able to preform them. So you closed your eyes and cleared your mind. You slid your hand closer to him, hoping that maybe he would reach for it in his sleep. Later, you finally fell asleep too.

Giyuu's POV

I was woken up by the bright, afternoon sun shining through the wind. Sundown would be in about an hour. You looked down at your hand, which was holding (Y/N) softly. "When did this happen? Did I do this, or did she?" I slowly unwrapped my hand around hers, without trying to wake her up.

She looked so peaceful, and so beautiful. A couple of the hairs around her face had fallen from her braid, making her hair look even cuter. Last night you hadn't slept well at all. All you could think about was her and how she made you feel. You never felt this way for a girl. Love was the last thing on your mind, but with her you wanted to pursue it. You had never been in love like that. But the fear of losing her overpowered it.

Knowing that she probably wanted to wake up some before you both set out, you lightly shook her awake. Quietly, she said your name, still asleep. It sounded so good coming out of her mouth. It's the only thing you wanted to hear. You lightly caressed her cheek. It was so soft and smooth. She slowly reached for your hand and squeezed it gently. A small smile reached across her face. You slowly pulled your hand away and took a minute to compose yourself. She was still asleep.

"Should I just let her sleep? Keep her out of harms way? No, she would be upset if I did that." I shook her a little harder this time, waking her up. "The sun's about to go down, we should probably head out soon." I told her quietly. She stretched and responded with a simple "Okay."

When it was dark, we headed out to find the demon we were after.
