Your POV

~

(Y/N)! RUN!!

It was so dark, the forest was so dense. As you ran, branches and leaves caught your haori as you did what Giyuu told you to do. He sounded fearful, like he was giving up.

You ran as fast as you could until you tripped over a tree root. Bracing for impact, you hit the ground hard and cut your hands up badly.

You turned around looking for Giyuu, it was so dark you could barley see him.

"Seventh form, Piercing Blade!" You heard Giyuu yell. Instead of hearing the demon in pain, you heard metal shatter.

His katana had broken.

His body flew threw the air. The demon had hit him forcefully, sending him flying backward, and his body hit the ground way harder than yours had. His body went limp with impact.

"GIYUU!!!"

You ran to him, tears already gushing from your eyes, fearing the worst.

~

You woke up to Giyuu shaking you awake. Your eyes were soaked with tears and your body was drenched in sweat. You sat up, trying to figure out where you were and what had just happened. The room was pitch black, so you knew it was the middle of the night.

"(Y/N), are you okay?" Giyuu asked, sounding extremely worried. "Yeah," you said panting, recalling the details of the dream. "I just had an awful nightmare, that's all."

"What happened?" He asked as you laid back down and grabbed him tightly, burying your face in his chest. "I can't talk about it right now, just please hold me." "Of course, (Y/N)..." he held you tightly as he relaxed a little bit. "I'll always protect you."

As the sun began to rise, you woke up, tangled between Giyuu's arms. He was still sleeping peacefully, his eyelids were softly closed and his breathing was calm and slow.

"I love him." you thought as you softly ran your fingers through a part of his messy hair. Looking back, you realized you've never been in love like this. Nobody made you feel the way he did.

You recalled the dream you had had earlier that night, and now fear began to set in with you. "What if, because of me, something happens to him? What if he goes on a mission, and never comes back??" Your heart pounded in your chest as your mind raced. You began to feel tears forming in your eyes, so you closed them, and took a deep breath to calm yourself down. "It was just a nightmare." you reassured yourself.

You didn't want to be that way, since you had told Giyuu days before to stop being so scared of love, but he was so important to you. You couldn't imagine the pain it would be to lose him. You wondered the pain he felt, losing his sister, losing his friend and then you thought of your father, who lost his love. The world around you was filled with so much tragedy. You were scared your luck would eventually run out.

"I need to calm down." you thought to yourself. Slowly, you softly lifted the arm that Giyuu had around your waist and set it next to him, and quietly you got out of bed to go clear your mind. You walked into the kitchen to make yourself some tea, when you saw your father sitting outside, watching the sun rise. He always had the best advice, so you decided to go talk to him about it.

"Good morning!" you said to him softly, handing him a cup of tea.

"Good morning, I'm surprised your up so early." he said cheerily. You were surprised, he sounded healthier than normal. Today should be a good day.

You sat down next to him, and it was silent for a moment, it was starting to get colder, so you wrapped a blanket around yourself. You could hear the birds singing to one another, it was so quiet.

"You seem to really like him." your father said, breaking the silence. " He's a wonderful young man."

You smiled at him. "He really is amazing, but Dad...I'm scared."

He took his arm out from his blanket and put his arm around you. His face said it all, he knew your pain and your worries. "I know you both put your lives on the line for helpless people like myself, but I think the best thing you can do, is live each day like it's going to be your last, sweetie. It's scary to think about, but living in fear is the worse way to live."

He was right, and you had given the same advice to Giyuu days earlier, but you fell in love with him so fast, and now reality was catching up to you. Tears began to fill your eyes. You wanted so bad to push them down, and not let your father see you cry, but your mind was filling with awful thoughts.

The first tear slipped from your eye, and after that, there was no keeping them back. You cried into your hands and quickly, your father shuffled closer to you, wrapping both of his frail arms around you, bringing you closer to him. "I had a nightmare last night. I saw him die, Father! He died right in front of me! What if that actually happens? How will I move on?" you sobbed.

For a moment, he didn't respond. He simply rubbed your back, and squeezed you softly. You looked up at him, expecting him to answer you. He took his thin hands and wiped the tears off your face.

"The sad thing is, you don't move on sweetie." It broke your heart hearing him say that, since it was the last thing you wanted to hear. "Your mom has been gone for 20 years now, and I'm still in love with her. And while her death tore my heart into a million pieces, she brought me you." You felt like your eyes were going to fall out of your head from all the tears. They burned, your cheeks were hot, and you struggled to catch your breath.

"Sometimes, awful things happen to good people, that is just the way life is. But that doesn't mean something is bound to happen to him or you. Keep being strong, do your best to protect him, and have his back. Tell him things you want him to know now. The last thing you ever want is regret." He was right.

"Thank you Father, I think I just needed to get that out."

"Your welcome. Just be careful, I know you will be."

Softly, you hugged your father, and thanked him again, for being your shoulder to cry on.

Giyuu's POV

I felt for (Y/N) when I woke up, but she wasn't next to me, like I expected her to be. "Damn, I wanted to kiss her good morning." I thought to myself. I got out of bed and quickly dressed myself, so that I could peak out the door and see what she was up to. I still don't feel comfortable walking around her house like it's mine.

As I opened the door quietly, I could see out the front window that she was sitting on the porch with her father. She was crying. Immediately, I wanted to run out there, but I figured she would tell me what was happening later.

I quietly shut the door, and went back to her bed and laid down, feeling worried and anxious. "I love her. I'm going to tell her tonight, I hope I don't scare her. Yet I wonder if she loves me back? Is that why she's crying? Is she telling her father that she's making a mistake being with me? No, dumb ass, stop thinking that shit." I thought to myself.

It was still early, and instead of worrying, I figure I should just get more sleep instead. It's not like I get to sleep in that often.
