Your POV

Hours passed through the early morning as you began to feel better about the talk with your dad and your worries. "He is right," you thought to yourself " it's not fair to me or Giyuu if I were to live like this. This is the life we chose, and we're saving humanity from these awful demons. It's our duty."

Suddenly Giyuu snapped you out of your thoughts. "You ready? If we leaving soon, we'll make it to Urokodaki's place before nightfall."

"Oh, yes! Let me just say goodbye to Grandma and Father." you said smiling at him. You were sad to leave your family so soon, but vacation time for demon slayers was precious and short. You also told yourself you wouldn't let so much time go between visits, since you were almost done with your training you figured you'd have some spare time to see them every once in a while.

Your little grandmother ran up to you and tightly hugged you, as you hugged her back, you told her, "I'll be back much sooner next time, grandma!" "I know you will sweetie, please be careful out there!" You smiled at her and squeezed her hand that were being held in yours.

You walked over to your father, who was steps away from your grandmother.

Giyuu POV

(Y/N)'s grandmother made her way over to me, with her arms stretched out, awaiting an embrace. I now see where (Y/N) gets her affectionate side from. I hugged her back as it filled me with warmth. She felt like she was my real grandmother. I had met her just yesterday, but she already accepted me as her own, and it was something I never expected to feel again in my life. I was sad to leave, probably sadder than (Y/N). "Take care of my baby, and take care of yourself, Giyuu. I know you will." Never in my life have I ever wanted to protect someone like I wanted to protect (Y/N). She gave me back my happiness and she gave me a family.

She went to hug her father, which she did gently. "Thank you for this morning." I heard her whisper to him as she pulled away. "Anytime. I love you, be safe." he responded to her. He turned his attention to me. "I know you'll take good care of her. Thank you, son." Hearing that made my body go slightly numb. "I-i will. Thank you both for everything again." I stuttered. (Y/N) quietly giggled at me.

"Are you ready?" she asked me. I nodded at her and followed her out of her small house. As we walked away, she turned around to wave goodbye to her grandmother one more time. She began to run out of the village, and I followed right behind her, catching up quickly.

Your POV

"Can I ask what happened last night?" Giyuu quickly asked as soon as we stepped foot out of the village. You were silent for a second. "The dream?" he asked again.

"Yeah..." You didn't want to talk to him about it, but you knew he was worried and deserved to know. " I had a dream something really bad happened to you." You began to explain, "We were fighting some demon, and you told me to run, so I did. And then you got thrown into the air. You flew far and hit the ground pretty hard, and when I went to shake you, you weren't responsive."

You felt the tears coming back as you retold the story. Your voice cracked as you finished explaining it to him. He was looking at you, but you didn't want to look at him. "Nothing like that is going to happen to me, (Y/N). Please don't worry." You pushed the tears back to look at him. "I know." you told him. He slowed down to a halt. Confused, you did too. He wrapped his arms around you, and hugged you, one hand around your waist, and the other hand around your head as he pushed your forehead onto his lips, giving you a kiss. "Nothing is going to happen to me or you. We'll grow old together, I promise."
