Once out of hearing range Desai began to sob as she dismounted then sat petting Narvi and Vali finally deciding on calling the taxidermist. Taking her phone out of her pocket she called Danny O'Neal. "Hello, this is Danny manager of I'll Stuff You Up, how may I help you?"
She sniffled, "Hey, Danny, this is Desai. I need for you to – if you can – do your magic on Bobo. I had to put him down. He got poisoned somehow."
"Oh, lass, I'm so sorry. Where is he?"
She told him and then hung up. She sat for a few more minutes then decided that she should go to her children, from the rock she had sat on she easily mounted back up without needing Fiasco to kneel.

She needed a shower, she knew it wouldn't wash away the bad feelings or the grief, but it would help relieve some of the tightness in her shoulders. Maybe she could get Thomas to give her a back rub later.
Thomas found the children in the playpen babbling and laughing with each other while Desai lay asleep on the sofa with tear stains on her cheeks. Vali, Narvi, Bobby, and Oakley were lying around the playpen; apparently on guard duty. Vali raised his huge head and wagged his tail and Thomas smiled at him as he scratched the massive animal between his ears.
Her eyes opened when he sat down on the sofa at the curve of her waist. "Hey, my darlingest girl, how are you?"
She raised up and slipped her arms around his waist. "Better now," she said muffled against his shirt as she began to sob. "I'm sorry I got mad at you. That I yelled at you."
"Shhh. Shhh," he murmured as he lay down next to her pulling her close. "I love you, darling. You have no idea how much. I want you so badly to not have this pain. If I could take it from you I would."
"Lock the door, Thomas. I need you."
"The door is locked, love. Doubly so, my darling," he said as he kissed his way across her lips to her ear and then lower to where her neck joined with her shoulder. "I've missed this so much," he whispered as he bit down then licked to soothe the pleasure-pain.
Desai looked up concentrating on his eyes focusing on his breathing. His eyes were akin to sparkling jade, the intensity of his gaze enough to keep her attention. He breathed in time with her and rubbed soothing circles into the balls of her shoulders. "Let me take care of you, Desai. Just let go and let me take away what pain I can."
