Two Hours Later

She took the opportunity while Thomas was still in the shower to make a call. "Well, of course, I do, sir, however, that's a lot of extra work for you." Desai paused as she listened to the man on the other end of the conversation smiling at his response. "No, sir, I do not have a problem with that at all. Thank you," she looked around and lowered her voice. "I just want to make sure that he's ready. Is he truly ready to ride?"

After a moment of watching his wife, he leaned over her shoulder. "Why are you whispering?" he asked lowly making sure his breath fanned over the back of her neck smiling as she shivered.

She had just clicked off with the gentleman and so she said sassily, "I was talking to a man about a horse and didn't want you to hear me?" Which was not a lie.

He snickered a bit. "Is one of the horses sick?" he asked with concern. He knew how much she cared about those animals just another thing he loved about her. When she stood he pulled her close wrapping his arms around her placing his head against hers. He couldn't seem to keep his hands off her. It was as if she were a magnet and he some sort of metal that when in close proximity nature took over and they would gravitate toward each other.

"No, there's a gentleman who wants me to have a look at a stallion. It's another Friesian and from what I was told his lineage would make a great addition to the ones I have. Some new blood so to speak."

"So what's the matter?" he asked as he threaded his fingers lightly through her hair breathing in the scent of her shampoo. That and the scent of the moisturizing oil she used made her smell good enough to eat. He groaned.

"Thomas? Something the matter?" she asked looking up at him and his somewhat pained expression.

"No. I was just thinking about how you smell."

She didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "What? Do I stink?" she asked as she sniffed herself.

He smiled at her actions as he whispered in her ear, "My darling, you smell good enough to eat. Gods, do you ever!"

She smiled against his neck and kissed him just below his ear in that special place that he loved. "Maybe later. Okay?" She looked up at him. "The gentleman I was talking to wants us to have a look at the horse. I told him that we could not come up tomorrow because we're expecting company. Emma and Sarah, possibly Ben and Sophie are coming over."

"Why?"

"Father's Day my love. You didn't want to celebrate with me and the babies on the real Father's Day. You spent it with your dad in Scotland." She looked into his blue eyes, "That was a bad day for you for some reason. And it's okay. I spent most of that day on Zoom with my dad and siblings."

He raised his head but he looked sad. "I hear mum and dad. We'd better go out."

"Could you make me some coffee, love?" she asked as she headed for the playpens to check on the children.
