"Are you sure this is the right way?" Thomas asked as he followed the GPS directions Desai had programmed into the vehicle before they left.
Desai laughed from the backseat as she wiped Sophia's face. "Mama, I can do it!" Sophia protested as Desai gave her the wet wipe.
"Okay!" she said to Sophia as she tapped the child's nose then answered her husband, "Yes, my darling man, I am sure this is the way to go. I've come up here several times and I've always gone this way!"
Thomas looked at her in the rearview mirror. "Several times?"
"Ummhmm," she murmured as she handed Catherine a wet wipe. "Did you think I did all my business over the phone or virtually?" She shook her head. "You know how work is for me. I'm always checking on things. And I am certainly not going to buy a horse sight unseen."
"Why didn't you tell me? This is quite a long drive, darling."
"You were busy most of the time with either interviews, photoshoots or rehearsals and I didn't feel as if it were that important, besides I had one of the security guys with me each time. I wasn't alone."
"Which one?" he asked quickly, maybe a little too quickly.
She grinned mischievously. "Jeffery. You know ... ummm. The very tall, blue-eyed, dark-haired man with those big broad shoulders and long legs, and happens to be as attracted to you as I am. There. Now stop it with the jealousy, Thomas," she said clearly letting him know that she had had enough of his little jealous fits. "You're not a teenager stop acting as if every man I see I'm going to leave you for." She looked out the window. "I love you, you big doofus! I don't want anyone else!"
He laughed then as did Diana and James. "There you go, Desai," Diana said. "Keep him on his toes!"
"I will, Mum." She smiled at the countryside as it passed, watching the city fall away and green and trees taking its place. "Da', could you place this in the garbage for me?" she asked as she handed him the used wet wipes.
"Sure, lass."
Not five minutes later she was as fast asleep as the children. Thomas kept an eye on her and the road as he continued to drive into the English countryside. She had not eaten that much that morning at breakfast, thanks to him, but his mum had packed extra snacks for the children and he had grabbed an extra Zofran patch even though she said she wouldn't need it. He wanted to make sure that she enjoyed the day.
She awoke to him saying with happiness, "I'll let it grow, but I'm not dyeing it until I get back to Atlanta."
"Another season of Loki?" she asked sleepily.
He nodded as he made a turn that took them up onto a long driveway that led to a manor house. "I do believe we are here," he said as he pulled up in front and parked. "Is this privately owned?"
