"You – Tom that's almost four years!" Ben said shocked.

Thomas nodded. "So I've been told. I'm seeing a counselor. So far I've only had flashbacks and I am told that's a good thing."

"I hear a but in there."

"I am attracted to and like Desai but I don't love her."

"Have you told her?"

"She knows – we talk – and she's been so very honest with me – so honest it's painful for the both of us. Last night I read part of one of her journals, from it I have gathered that I have always been attracted to her from the moment we met." He hung his head as he said, "Ben, I've been a complete ass to her. I told her to leave and she was going to do it! Had it not been for Emma she would have." He looked over to Ben. "It scares the living shit out of me – the way she looks at me. I can see in her eyes how much she loves me. But I barely know who she is!" He broke down then completely unashamed to let his feelings go as he wept.

"Fuck," Ben whispered. "Are you allowed to drink?"

Thomas gave him an odd look. "Why?"

"The news you just gave me, idiot. I need a drink and I don't give a damn about the time of day it is!" He drove to a liquor store and picked up not one but two bottles of Glenlivet Single Malt Scotch then headed to his home. Sophie was out for the day in rehearsal with the children and their nanny.

They settled themselves in Ben's office and Thomas began to talk to him about everything that had transpired since he awoke from his surgery.

Ben nodded. "I knew it was bad when Dee called and said that they were removing a blood clot from your brain. I really think she knew that something like this was a possibility. She said to expect you to be different. However, I don't think she thought that you would forget her." He took a drink. "I don't suppose you've called Hemsworth?"

Thomas looked at him questioningly. "Yes, he called me actually, I spoke with him last night. Why?"

"You and he had a huge row about him calling Desai a whale and hurting her feelings while she was pregnant. He refused to apologize to her with the explanation that he was only kidding. You told him that if he didn't, things would definitely not be the same and things haven't been. I know Desai called him – she doesn't know about the argument – and told him the same thing she told me." He laughed lightly, "She calls him a ginormous doof and he jokingly calls her whale. It's become a nickname between them."

Thomas sat shocked, but now better understood Chris's demeanor on the phone. "Wow."

"She's a special woman, Tom. Those close to you know how you get at times – especially during those times you have a new role and are constantly walking around repeating and learning your dialogue for a part."

"You make it sound like I'm a complete bastard to be around during times like that." Thomas took a drink and allowed the amber liquid to burn down his throat slowly.
