Part 2: What now?

Yibo is standing at the window on the top floor in the hospital, looking out at the city. Or what once was a city and now does not remind of it. Destroyed buildings, still burning buildings and all the corpses, here in the hospital and also on the streets.

And although it's almost 10 am, it still hasn't really gotten daylight. "Eerie this sight. It kind of reminds me of the Van Helsing series when I look at the sky and the burning city."

"Uh-huh, and now you think hundreds of vampires came crawling out of their holes and just destroyed everything?"

"I didn't say that."

"Maybe you'd better not say anything then, until we find out what happened here."

"Yes officer."

"Don't give me that shit okay?"

"What?"

"That sarcastic crap. It really doesn't need to be in a situation like this."

"But it's the only way for me to deal with this right now. Because honestly Officer Wang, there's my dead chief doctor over there, looking like a wild animal attacked him. My colleagues are dead. Patients and visitors are dead. And I have no fucking idea what happened. All I heard was their screams and desperate banging on the door."

"Do you think my colleagues are better off? The two colleagues at the front desk are still sitting burned at the reception desk waiting for people to come for help. My boss is burned as well. And even worse, none of them seemed to have put up a fight! But I'm not being sarcastic or freaking out about it either."

"I'm not freaking out, all right?"

"Yeah good. We should stay here for a few more days and see if any other survivors might come here."

"So you're welcome to stay here and wait. I'm going to go to the hospital parking garage right now, to my car and then get out of town as fast as I can."

"I don't think that's a good idea doctor."

"Oh no? You just wait and see. Pretty soon the air will be barely bearable because of all the smoke and ash. Besides, the bodies are slowly starting to decompose, which means their stench will soon become unbearable. On top of that, we have no idea what happened. And I don't intend to wait here until the thing that killed all these people comes back. I'm offering you the chance to come with me. Because it's better to survive in pairs. But if you don't want to, just stay here and I'll go alone."

"Say, can't you just be quiet for five minutes? Ever since I woke up, all you've been doing is talking and talking. My head is really starting to burst. You get on my nerves so much with your babbling. I'm really grateful that you helped me and took care of my laceration. But really just shut the fuck up and let me process all of this for a second."

"Oh wow. You know what? If I'm annoying you like this, you stay up here and I'll go downstairs, pack up my stuff and get out of here. Happy survival to you officer Wang."

"Hey no wait, I didn't mean it like that." Yibo shouted after the doctor. But the doctor kept walking and left the station. "Damn, I'm sorry okay?" He shouted again louder. But doctor Xiao didn't come back.

Yibo was annoyed with himself for being so harsh to the doctor who probably saved his life. And he hadn't meant to say such mean things, either. But at just 23 years old, Yibo feels totally overwhelmed by it all and doesn't know where his head is at the moment.

To apologize to the doctor and make sure that he doesn't leave without him, Yibo wanted to run after him. But just as he was about to head out the door, he noticed a huge shadow fly past the window. He rushed back to the window, but couldn't see anything.
