*Very slight gore later in the chapter, it's isn't detailed at all so it should be fine*

I grabbed Sunset's hand as I dragged her towards Jacob. I could feel her hand tense up as Jacob got closer. I looked back and smiled, squeezing her hand reassuringly. She stared straight into my eyes before taking a deep breath, placing her other hand on her chest.

"You okay?"

I stopped, waiting for her to answer as she stared at the ground for a few seconds. Her breathing slowed and she looked up at me, nodding.

I slowly pulled her towards Jacob again. I turned to face him; Eli already at his side, hugging his legs. He looked down at Eli as he patted his head.

Jacob looked a little happier and plus, his eyes weren't as red and puffy. He carried a deer over his should. Surprisingly, there was not a single drop of blood on his clothes.

Oh to be a skilled hunter. I can't even kill a squirrel without getting splattering blood everywhere. Then again, that's probably because we're a messy eater. Or maybe, it's because I keep biting where the arteries are, either way, I still suck at hunting.

My wolf chuckled, swinging her tail lazily.

"Jacob! Welcome back!" I shouted.

Hand still clutching the deer, he waved at me with his other hand.

"Sorry it isn't much... in kinda tired right now." He said softly, laying the deer in front of us.

It's fine. Knowing Mystic, a leg or two is probably enough for her.

"Oh, c'mon! My appetite has gotten bigger, at least I think it has."

Jacob let out a snort, quickly turning his head away as I glared at him.

Even at the facility, I could tell that you were being "overfed." I mean, you pretty much stayed the same size. I'm also pretty sure you even gained a few pounds during the first month before they realized that you were eating a lot more than you did before. Which is actually kinda worrying.

I stared at them blankly as they stared at me, expecting an explanation.

I jumped up and shouted, "Well who's hungry?! 'Cuz I sure am! Let's dig in, I'll semi-shift so that we can use my claws as knives!"
*
I let go of Sunset's and a knelt down in front of the deer. Ignoring Jacob's concerned gaze as I started slicing at the deer's stomach.

"Y'know, this is actually a pretty big deer! Good job Jacob! I'm sure it'll last all of us at least a solid two days. Hey Setty, can 'ya create a few plates for us?" I whispered the last part to her as I held a liver in my hand.

Sunset twiddled her fingers as she looked up, thinking. She nodded her head before materializing a spray can. She turned away from the deer and started spraying the grass.

Here.

Jacob stared at her in wonder, but said nothing.

He knelt behind me before saying, "Why do you need plates? We can simply shift–oh wait, forgot Eli's too young."

"Mhm."

"You should skin it first." Jacob said as he looked over my shoulder, examining the cut I made.

I placed the liver on the plate before pulling out a kidney.

"Pffft, and get the meat all grassy? Nah. Grass tastes horrible. And plus, a bunch of dirt and bugs will get on the meat and that's disgusting!"

"Ignoring the fact that you've tasted grass before, we're werewolves. We literally do not, and should not care if dirt gets on the meat. And if bugs get on the meat, that's just extra protein that you need."

"Just 'cuz you don't care, doesn't mean I don't. And this is coming from a person who's sixty percent wolf! Dirt is disgusting! It's grainy and just taste out right horrible. And don't get me started on bugs! Bugs are sooooo fricken gross, especially with how crawly they are and how they explode juice if you bite into them and how they don't die even if you squish them and how some of them are really slimy or squishy."

Putting the kidney onto the plate, I grabbed another plate and started pulling out the small intestine before continuing my rant. I could tell Jacob was amused as he didn't stop me. Sunset let out a mechanical chuckle as she patted my head.

"And I remember one time when I was like seven, my cousin ate a bug and it EXPLODED in her mouth. It was still MOVING. I could see it's head fricken twitching and stuff! She ended up puking and getting a stomach ache because it turns out that it was a poisonous bug. I honestly don't know why she even decided to grab a random bug and eat it. Then again, I'm pretty sure it was to spite Uncle David who said the bug looked pretty. I would do the same if I didn't fricken hate bugs and wasn't born with this weak body."

I said the last part a little too bitterly, causing all of us to fall silent.

After a few minutes of silence, Jacob cleared his throat and whispered, "What makes you think you're body is weak?"

"I mean, everything about me is pretty weak. My bones are fragile, I bruise easily, I don't have that much stamina, I'm also not that athletic, and I can barely use my own fricken ability without it hurting! Did I forget to mention that I suck at fighting?"

"That's not you're fault. It's your pack's fault. If they weren't so overprotective of you, you would've been able to strengthen your bones. If you were given the chance to properly train when you were younger, you bones would be a lot stronger. Granted, they obviously won't be as strong as usual bones are, but they would be stronger. You would also be able to fight. And hey, how many wolves do you know that can fly?"

"... None," I murmured.

"I don't know anyone else either. And all I have to say is, you're doing pretty good. So don't worry about being weak at all, you're pretty strong in other ways. I mean, I know a bunch of adults that would've broken down by now if they were put in you're shoes. You're... you're pretty good at dealing with trauma and staying strong And plus, you're only twelve, you have plenty of time to train and get stronger."

"I guess." I said, smiling slightly.

He ruffled my hair.

"I guess it's time to eat now.

I laid my head on Sunset's paws, closing my eyes as I listened to her heartbeat. I could feel her licking the top of my head, grooming me as she wrapped her tail around mine.

I could feel her head moving around, checking the surroundings before stopping to stare at me.

I slowly drifted to sleep.

Fuck, I forgot to ask Jacob about finding him.
