Sunset

Sunset had absolutely no idea where she was. Everything was unfamiliar, she couldn't recognize any scents.

Sure, it wasn't the best idea to leave without even asking what territory she was in, but at least she didn't have to deal with that alpha any longer.

The whole month she was there, the alpha would constantly harass her simply for existing. Not only that, he would even get other pack members to "join in on the fun."

To says she hated him was an understatement.

At least his grandmother was on her side, along with most of his pack. Who knew that bullying a traumatized orphan would cause people to hate you?

She shifted, he body turning into paint as it broke down to form a wolf. She shook her body as the paint solidified, hardening into flesh and fur. She glanced down at her paws, lifting one of them up to. She watched droplets of paint fall from the bright yellow fur. She glanced back up, staring at the sunny sky though the leaves.

She smiled a toothy grin before heading east.

As she walked, she swung her tail on every interesting tree or rock, marking them with a bright splash of yellow. She marked anything that could give her a clue of where she was, shifting and spray painting a small green wolf head on anything she deemed to be a major landmark. On lakes or rivers, she would spray paint a blue wolf head on a nearby by tree.

After what felt like hours, she stopped to take a rest underneath a large willow tree. She took a deep breath, laying down and rolling on her back to stare at the sky through the branches.

Hey, you awake yet? Sunset asked her wolf, smiling bitterly as she didn't respond. No? That's fine. I left that fucking pack finally. I know I said this last week, but I mean it this time. I actually left, and my dumbass forgot to ask for direction and a map. But don't worry! I marked my trail.

She let out a sigh. I miss you. I know I keep telling you this, but I just want to make sure that you're listening. It's been a month or so since we escaped the hunters... a-and it's been a month since we've last seen them alive. I-I just want you to know that we're safe now. You can come out...

Sunset waited, holding her breath in. She waited, and waited, and waited, and waited before finally allowing herself to breath.

No? That's fine... I'll just try again tomorrow.

Sunset slowly got up, ignoring the single tear drop that slid down her cheek.

She shifted, quickly wiping the tear away before her body could mistakenly solidify it. She clenched her left hand, wincing slightly as she felt her palm burn. She unclenches her hand, revealing a black mask. She stuck the mask to her face before getting up to walk again.

~~~~
She still had no idea where she was, although. She could smell a waft of a familiar scent.
The dull fruity and cakey scent of a certain alpha she knew.
She widened her eyes, her pupils dilating as she smiled widely.
She's... she's still alive?
She lurched forward, nearly tripping on a rock as she followed the scent.
The scent was no where near as suffocating as it was before, in fact, she was surprised she was even able to get a whiff of it at all. But, no matter how weak the scent was, Sunset could easily tell who it belonged to. After all, she did spend a good three-or-so months with her.
Sunset could feel herself beaming as she started sprinting's my towards the source. She could feel her form wavering in excitement as she struggled to keep herself solidified.
She tuned her ears to the forest, hopping up and down as she hoped to catch even the slightest sound of their voice. She frowned slightly at what she heard instead, the sounds of quiet sobs echoing echoing though the forest.
She stopped dead in her tracks, her winkles forming on her forehead as the sobs got louder. As she got closer to the source of the sobs, the familiar scent grew stronger. She could feel her heart stop as she realized who was making those sounds.
She gulped as she slowly stalked towards a large tree, spotting a small figure laying by the trunk.
There, sat a crying kid. The kid wore a yellow sweater and jeggings, seemingly unbothered by the hot weather. The kid sat with their knees to their chest, tail wrapped tightly around themselves and ears drooped down. Their purple hair stuck to their tear stained cheeks.
Their ears flickered as Sunset stepped towards them. The kid looked up, their eyes puffy from crying so much. They held eyes, staring at each other intently. Recognization filled the kid's eyes before they jumped up and practically screamed.
"SETTY!!!"
"𝕄𝕐𝕊𝕋𝕀ℂ!!!" Sunset screamed back, her voice distorted and robotic like.
She held her arms open as the Mystic ran towards her, tail wagging dangerously fast
She held her arms open as the Mystic ran towards her, tail wagging dangerously fast. Mystic jumped towards her, clutching onto her like her life depended on it. Sunset stumbled backwards before hugging back.
They stayed in each other's arms for a few minutes before Sunset pulled herself away.
Mystic looked up at her and grinned, "There's no way the main character would die that easily."
Sunset let out a robotic laugh, looking down at the pup in her arms.
Mystic reached up to cup her face, fascinated with her mask. Her eyes twinkled as she turned Sunset's face around to study the mask.
"How does this mask work?"
"𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕜𝕟𝕠𝕨 𝕞𝕪 𝕒𝕓𝕚𝕝𝕚𝕥𝕪, 𝕣𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥? 𝕎𝕖𝕝𝕝, 𝕚𝕥 𝕥𝕦𝕣𝕟𝕤 𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕀'𝕞 𝕒𝕝𝕤𝕠 𝕒𝕓𝕝𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕔𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕥𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘𝕤 𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕠𝕗 𝕚𝕟𝕜 𝕒𝕤 𝕝𝕠𝕟𝕘 𝕒𝕤 𝕀 𝕜𝕟𝕠𝕨 𝕙𝕠𝕨 𝕖𝕒𝕔𝕙 𝕡𝕒𝕣𝕥 𝕨𝕠𝕣𝕜𝕤. Mystic held the mask carefully, as if it were a priceless artifact. She turned it in her hands, marveling at it before handing it back to Sunset.
"I'm so fricken glad that you able to talk again!" She exclaimed, jumping up and down.
