Chapter 19

Call

I could feel myself getting terrified at the passing time, it's been so long yet there's still no police officers coming in our aide. My heart feels like it was getting gripped tightly by a hand seeing the new exterior of the car, it means that we've been shipped off into a new car without our knowledge

My eyes guarding vigilantly the old man dozing in the car. He must have the thought to not be guarded towards kids since we're just little kids. In the corner of my eyes, the man driving has his eyes on the road.

So I burrow myself into the little boy's neck and swiftly pulled my bag and took the phone out. When the phone touches my hand, I put it inside my stomach and hid it.

Then I pretended to sleep and at that moment, I heard someone grunting making my head felt like it was pricked with needles. My back was bathed in sweat as I huddled into Xiao Ruo's neck.

It felt like years before I heard silence once more, I peeked out and saw the already asleep old man and the now smoking driver. With that, I typed in the emergency number and called it while lowering the volume till it was non-existent.

I plan to let them hear our conversation and let them know where we are now.

The call was picked up and soon my hands became sweaty, I took a huge breath and called out to the driver.

"Mr. D-Driver, are w-we there yet?" My voice was trembling as I grip Xiao Ruo's hand, I decided to call him Xiao Ruo in my head rather than still call him as gege.

"What?!" He barked out making the old man sprang in his sleep.

"What happened?!" He looks at the two of us darkly before focusing his eyes on his accomplice.

"This little girl asked me if we're there yet" the driver grunted then puff smoke out.

"I- I want to p-pee" I almost cried out, it was true and I've been holding it in due to fear.

"Fucking hell" the old man gritted, Xiao Ruo has already awoken evident on the tight grip of his hands on me. "Fine but don't take too long or else I'll snap your legs"

My legs were so wobbly I almost fell on the ground, the old man grips my arm so tight I yelp in pain.

"Finish quickly!" He shouted and watch me with hawk eyes as I walk to the Mountain road and pee.

I felt my face pale in humiliation, to be watched by this old man while I do my business was enough to make me faint in humiliation.

I put my bag on my chest, the bag hiding my back then I look out and tried to look for noticeable places or things that could at least make the police officers locate us quickly.

"Pig farm, the smell of insecticide, mountain, 2 or 3 hours" I mumbled as I stood up, and soon, I quickly finished my business.

"Can't you walk faster?!" I flinched and almost ran to the door of the car.

Xiao Ruo was looking petrified and when he spotted me, his teary eyes immediately brighten, and his hands spread to hold me.

"Hey, don't cry, shh! They'll hurt us!" I whispered in his ear and thankfully, he ended his cry and can only sniff in the corner.

Before long, the journey continued and I can only count on Juan's phone, or else we'll be doomed.

Sigh, this will really be the last time I'll act as a hero.

On the other hand, the entire police station was buzzed with clamors after a call from the phone of one of the kidnapped children.

It was a genius idea and also a very high risk one, if found then the child might suffer severe consequences.

"We found them!" A young police officer shouts making everyone shot up in their seats.

"Team A will lead the way, Team B will go in the other direction and the rest will stay in place in case of needed aid" The captain shouted and the rest immediately went into place.

Soon, the whole area was filled with police officers, some were covert and acting like normal passersby while the rest are in their uniforms.

One of the police officers called for the parents who got their child take from them this afternoon.

"Really? You already found them? That's great!" Juan cried and clapped, she didn't even care if she looks like a crazy woman at this time and her feat finally lessen.

The woman on her side, Xu He Yan, was as calm as the water and she stood straight with her eyes piercing into their own.

"Is everything handled well? Is everyone in place and is the location spotted correctly?" She was like a bullet, fast and swift pressuring someone to answer her.

"Yes Mrs. Xu, everything is in place, we only need to wait-"

"No need, I'll come with you"

The police officer was a bit shocked and was about to refuse but was tapped by one of their chiefs. She can only nod and allow the mysterious and powerful Mrs. Xu to come to their operation along with Ms. Mei.

"Thank you for letting me come" Juan meekly said while He Yan looked at her.

"I know the feeling"

She smiled and turn her back, at that time, Juan had the dream to become strong like her and finally solidified that moment.
