Chapter 21

Saved

I stayed awake, I've already slept in the way here and there's no way ill close my eyes again. Just looking at the mountain of children in front of me makes my back chilled.

I should stay vigilant and keep watch for any danger, Xiao Ruo on the other hand had already slept from tiredness.

It felt like years and yet nothing has happened, we're still stuck here. I mean this is what I get for being so overly confident, the stakes were too high as well as the reward, I just knew I couldn't pass this chance.

The old kid reigned here, his eyes kept watch at every child, I guess that he's one of those kids that were allied to that fat woman. He munched on my food and even had the gall to eat it in front of me, loudly.

Hmph! After this fiasco ends, I'll make sure I get a punch from you, or else I'll write my name backward!

Not before long, the doors opened, and soon, cries were heard, it felt ominous and I knew our time was up.

We're being shipped.

Sh*t! Where are those police officers when we need them?! My palms got sweaty as I nudge on the unaware Xiao Ruo.

"What's wrong?" He rubbed on his eyes and look blankly at me.

God, even at this time I couldn't help but marvel at the sight of this little guy. He must have saved the universe and the heavens must have loved him so much that they pour out everything they have and created a masterpiece.

"We're being shipped, we have to stall time" I whispered as another kid was taken away crying loudly for his mother.

"I'm scared" his lips were resembling and tears formed in his eyes.

"Don't worry, we'll be saved, I promise you" I solemnly made an oath, his eyes brightened up and the hopelessness on him vanished.

I look around me, the adults weren't looking at the back and were busy hauling off kids as if they were objects. Then I happened to see a lighter falling off from one of the human traffickers.

So I picked it up with quick movements, Xiao Ruo was looking at me in alarm, thankfully I told him to let go of my sleeve or else we'll be caught.

I lit up a fire and throw it in the garden outside, the windows were designed like one of that prison windows. The garden outside caught fire, it was a garden filled with a type of plant that is used for making drugs.

"Fire! There fire outside!" I shouted out loud and instantly, the adults scurried into the window and bolted out, there's only one person who was left alone with us. He locked the doors and turned to the garden, the fire was so big it burned everything in seconds.

I hope that the police officers get here faster or else they would even find us in here anymore.

On the other side, the police officers had already gathered in the mountainside when they caught sight of a fire. The location of the fire seems to be in the same location if the captured children and so they rushed there in a hurry.

Cars lined up outside and soon, police officers covered the entire area, some had already been out and were sighting the place.

The obvious smell of cannabis spread in the area and soon, police officers rushed to the door.

"Hands up! We're police officers-"

The entire room was filled with shots and some had even dropped dead, screams filled the house as steps rang loudly inside. A flurry of footsteps could be heard in the basement and soon, shots rang once more making the children inside cried out in fear.

One particular girl smiled as her entire body lightened up from the heavy burden of the entire day. They can finally leave, her rewards, she can already see her rewards!

Soon, the door opened, and numerous police officers with their guns came and a look of relief can be seen in every kid's eye.

Saved, we're finally saved!
