A hectic day at work, filled with planning for upcoming projects and unexpected disagreements among other employees, had left me exhausted and anxious to return home.Fully aware that it was dangerous to drive when in such a sleepy state,I placed myself behind the wheel anyway and started my journey to my home.Even worse for someone who was practically seconds from drifting off,the roads were taken over by reckless drivers and continuous traffic.I wasn't the only person hurrying to reach home after work.

As soon as I pulled into the driveway I parked my car,not caring one bit that it was almost touching my doorstep, and lazily searched through my purse to find the silver keys.I stopped in the kitchen for a cold glass of water, trudged up the long staircase and hurried into my bedroom where I slipped off the classy work clothing and into more suitable pyjamas.Because of my laziness,i threw the pillow at the light switch, successfully switching it off without even touching it with my own hands.Just as I lay my head down and shut my eyes, the telephone ran loudly.

Kicking my legs childishly,I reached over and grabbed the phone.

"Hello?"

John?

"Hi.."I muttered, sinking into the pillows behind me.

"It's me,John!Hope I didn't disturb you or anything"

"Not at all"I said and sighed mentally at the lack of sleep,"How are you?"

It was all too odd.Never had a man that I had gone on a date with called me to have a casual conversation. It was somewhat awkward at first, since I had lacked almost any experience in dating such a descent person.I was either blushing from my nervousness,or because of his masculine voice on the other side of the phone.

"Great actually"

There was a pause for a few seconds.

"Are you doing anything tomorrow night?"

"I've got nothing planned".I attempted to sound carefree and casual about the idea, but I had actually sounded like I didn't care at all.I slapped myself on the forehead, stupidly catching John's attention.

"What was that?"

"Oh,nothing!My book just fell"

And then there was another nerve-wrecking pause.

"So can I pick you up at five tomorrow for a walk down the gap?"

"Of course you can!I'll see you tomorrow"I said and disconnected the call after hearing his "Goodbye".

So from sounding like someone who didn't give a damn about what he was talking about,I sounded like a teenage girl who had just gotten a call from her first boyfriend.

I hung up the phone and pulled the covers over my body,a million thoughts about the next day floating through my mind.It was almost a habit now.The night before every event I would sit on my bed and picture how it would possibly go,wether it be the best or worst scenario.I couldn't help but picture me embarrassing myself and making John run away.

Remembering that I had a date planned,I parked my car almost as recklessly as I had the day before.I reached over to the passenger's seat, grabbed my groceries and fumbled around in my purse for the keys. After minutes I finally dumped the plastic bags onto the already full dining table that I never used and groaned when I heard a can fall.Deciding to be my usual lazy self,I left it there and dashed up the stairs to find an outfit for my date.

A whole hour later,I was showered, dressed in suitable attire and applied mascarra and lipgloss to make myself look more presentable. While I was brushing through the knots in my hair the doorbell rang, signalling that my expected guess was already here to pick me up.I shut the door in a rush and raced down the stairs.Just before I opened the door I haulted and checked myself in the nearby mirror once more, ensuring that I looked good enough to let him see me.

"Hello!"

I was quickly pulled into a warm hug.He pressed his lips to my cheek for a few seconds and I blushed childishly at the unexpected form of contact.

"You ready?"He asked politely, shooting me one of his charming yet childish smiles.

I nodded my head and he took my hand in his and walked me to his car.Right after he had opened my door like a gentleman,he got into the car and I nervously sat in the passenger's seat, only talking when I was being talked to.I had no idea what to talk about when a man,who was not a close friend of mine but rather a date, was sitting right next to me and driving us to a lively destination for a date.

"The Gap" was a long, narrow road, filled with entertainment and various restaraunts.Several clubs and casinos were lined up along the left side of the strip, while restaraunts, bakeries and ice cream shops were lined up along the right side.It was the ideal place for young couples to go to,everyone knew that.So it really had me thinking..was John thinking about making this relationship official?Afterall,he was driving us to a place where mostly young couples occupied.Countless dates had occurred there.

"Hey,you okay?"John asked as he pulled into the parking lot.

"Oh,yeah!I'm fine"I insisted as he exited the car and kindly opened the door for me to do the same.

Once again he took my hand in his and I was slightly caught off guard by his actions.Maybe he had been used to doing this with his other girlfriends and dates, but never had I actually been out with such a gentleman.Holding hands was something else I had never done with a man like him, along with having doors opened for me and having men come to my door to pick me up for a date.

By the next half an hour, all anxiety had faded and been replaced by excitement. We sat on the benches and conversed, roamed around the area and took a look at the entertainment and even stopped in one of the seafood restaraunts to get a bite.Much different to the beginning of the date,I hadn't even wanted to return home.It was a little past seven, hours before we would have thought about going home, but the winds were getting colders and the rain was beginning to drizzle o us and everyone else trying to enjoy themselves that night.

Both of us agreeing that it was finally time to go,we walked back to the parking lot,all the while laughing about how much fun we had.We drove home and I siged sadly when I realised that the rain had stopped completely. It was already too late to turn back then.

"I had a lot of fun tonight!"He exclaimed, parking outside the gate of my house.

"Me too"I said, feeling slightly awkward because I had no idea what to do next,"So I'll see you another time?"

"Definitely!"He said and pulled me into a hug.

I shot him one last smile and exited the car, watching as he drove off and waved another time. But just as I turned around,my heart stopped at the unexpected sight. There was Marshall, his bright, blue eyes shining with curiosity and his eyebrows creased as he got out of his car.
