Shadow stepped through the door of Resistance headquarters and sighed as he looked at all the people running around. "Amy." Shadow asked as he walked up to the pink Hedgehog. She was frantically typing on a computer and didn't hear the ebony Hedgehog. "Amy!" he yelled. Amy flinched and looked at him "W-what!?" "What's going on!?" "You don't know? Sonic, he's gone!" "What do you mean gone!?" Shadow asked, shifting forward so he was just inches away form Amy's face. Amy shuddered "H-he was attacked... And, and we couldn't find him!" "Where was he!?" "Green Hill! But Shadow..." "What?" "You're our new leader." Shadow stumbled back "What!?" Amy nodded as everyone stood together "Sonic put you down as his replacement. Note said that he thought you'd be the best fit due to being in war. Got any orders?" Shadow looked down at his hand before clenching it into a fist "Get Rouge and Omega in here... Eggman wants a war? Let's give him one he'll regret! Get everyone on Combat Alert Alpha... This war just stepped up. Also, Amy's in charge while I'm gone." Shadow said before stepping out. "Uh... Where exactly are you going?" Amy asked on the radio. "Green Hill. Me and Team Dark will investigate where Sonic disappeared." Shadow explained before rushing off. Him, Rouge and Omega arrived at Green Hill together and were at the edge of the forest where Sonic disappeared. "Alright... We'll split up, cover more ground. Keep comms open in case of an emergency." Rouge and Omega nodded before heading off. Shadow rushed into the center, soaring by the trees. He the heard Amy "Shadow... I didn't know if I wanted to tell you this... But... the ARK has been reactivated..." Shadow's breathing jumped up, as did his heart rate. "What!?" "And something fell from it... I've sent the coordinates. It's got signs of life!" Shadow sighed before getting on the radio with Rouge and Omega "Team Dark, stay here and continue the search. I'll investigate whatever fell." "You sure Shadow?" Rouge asked. Shadow stayed silent for a few seconds before answering "Yeah. Just be careful. If something took down Sonic, then it can put up a bit of a fight." "Omega copies. All sensors are functional!" "Don't worry about me Shadow, I can handle myself." "Copy. I'm heading out." Shadow said as he exited Green Hill. He ran along some cliffs before he saw the smoke plume in a valley. "Those are the coordinates... Now let's find out what's going on..." he said to himself. There were some bots on the way that he took care of easily. He got to the area and noticed it was a clearing in a forest. There was a crater with an escape pod intact in it. There was a large mech too. It turned to face him "Egg Hunter M.K. II, all systems are a go, Shadow has been spotted. Engaging!" He heard before a bright blue light flashed (Yeah, using an image because my immersion skills are wack. Art's not mine and was made by Zeiram0034 on Devianart.)

Shadow quickly leaned back, a railgun round flying over him. He did a back flip and landed on his feet. "Well, this was unexpected. Guess you're not like the other trash Eggman uses. This'll be fun!" (Crew race 3 "sounding streets" - Need For Speed Carbon OST. I know music from a game about street racing is kinda odd to use but once the violins kick in, you'll see why I picked it)
