Chapter 19: Into The Machine

Shadow was in the bridge, the battle on the ground having just ended. He smiled as he clenched his fist "Alright now for phase 2!" he yelled. "I need Dare on here, then get our ships to space."
The Hrimfaxi sent out a small dropship with Dare on board. It went into the hangar of the Scinfaxi and Dare went to Shadow's room on the ship. They shared a hug before sitting down. "Where's Fayn's jacket and amulet at? You not bringing them?"
"After what happened with Arnec, Fayn needed some time to himself."
It was a quiet few minutes before the small fleet of three left the atmosphere. They heard Amy "Hey you two, we got a problem! Need you here!"
Shadow and Dare looked at each other before rushing to the bridge.
"What is it?" Shadow asked as the two walked into the bridge. Amy shook her head and pointed out the window, revealing a large enemy fleet.
"There's too many ships, the Alicorn won't be able to cover us!" Amy said, looking at the hostile fleet. Shadow looked at the radar and noticed a gap between fleet and the Death Egg, just large enough for a ship to slip through "I got a idea." he said before pointing at Mobius' moon "We'll use the moon as a slingshot using it's gravitational pull. With the momentum we can slip right behind their fleet. Me and Dare will be in EVA suits and jump out, flying to the Death Egg while you all fly out of there."
"But... What if you miss?" Amy asked. Shadow and Dare smiled "We won't." they said together. Shadow put his hand on Amy's shoulder "Don't worry about us, don't move the ship until I give the order. Once we're out, move your butt and don't die! We'll tie up loose ends."
Amy hugged him, Shadow blushing in surprise as he was taken off guard. His hands slowly went around her and they pulled out of the hug.
" Show em' what you got Shadow!"
Shadow and Dare headed to the armory. Shadow got his armor on, but Dare sat down. Shadow raised an eyebrow
"Dare, we need to get ready... Dare?"
"History, is written by the victor... But if Eggman wins, then history will become the greatest lie Mobius has ever told. He is a stain on the Robotnick name. He, must die. Just because we were able to kick the little bots off world, doesn't mean that once we're inside the Death Egg, it'll be so easy. We must give it our all. We cannot give up now, while we have the advantage! It is up to us to stop him. Whether we like it or not, we are Robotnicks too. The least we can do is cut off the chaff from the family."
"A sick family reunion, you ask me."
"Sickening family reunion."
"What I meant."
"But we have to end this. Dust, to dust. Let's do this." Dare said before walking up to a table in the armory and pulling out her pistols. She laid them down and began to work on them, Shadow not being able to see what she was doing. She turned around, sliding the slide back on one pistol and smiled as she held it up. It had a foregrip on the front that would fold. This would reduce recoil and allow her to stay on target, as she had converted the gun to no longer fire one bullet. It was rather full auto, or two round burst. The hand guard had been modified too to fit the grip, while there was now a sliding stock, providing similar benefits as the grip. Her pistols were now officially Machine pistols. She holstered both of them. "Let's go." she said, smiling. Shadow smiled and they headed to the hangar they put their helmets on. It sealed itself off from the rest of the ship before the hatch opened. They could see the fleet and the Death Egg. The hatch closed and Shadow got onto the radio "Alright, begin the operation."
(Dare - Stan Bush. What!? I saw an opportunity and took it!)

The ship jerked forward and swung around the moon, inches from it's surface. It's speed went higher than the engines could provide before it slingshotted away. It flew behind the fleet, the hangar opening again. Shadow looked at Dare and nodded before the two jumped... The Scinfaxi blazed by and disappeared from view. Shadow looked down and saw Mobius, the planet looking beautiful as him and Dare soared to the Death Egg. It was quiet, the muffled explosions of the Alicorn's prey barely audible. They continued to float/fly towards the Death Egg, going full speed using small rockets on the armor. They saw a window, and Dare pulled out her pistols. They flew full speed at a window, Dare blasting the glass open before both flew in and most the bots went out. The destroyed window automatically sealed itself with a large sheet of metal as Dare emptied her mags into the shocked bots. Dare reloaded and looked at Shadow "Alright, we're in... Let's get this over with."Dare said before the two ran through the Death Egg. Dare folded a tac pad out of the forearm plate on her armor and a map of the Death Egg appeared "He should be just a few corridors away. That's where his signal is."
"Copy. Let's move."
Dare flicked the tac pad back into place before the two ran through the halls, blasting bots. A door opened with tons of bots on the other side, including some on a balcony with a laser turret. Dare had both pistols out as Shadow pried a laser rifle from one of the bots' bodies. They ran through the hallway, Dare and Shadow firing their weapons with perfect accuracy as they went through the hallway. Dare looked up at the bots with the turret
"Turret's mine."
"Get em' I got the ground covered."
Dare reloaded and jumped, twisting her body mid-air and firing both pistols as she spun. The bots on the balcony were destroyed and she landed on her feet right by Shadow as they blasted more bots. They got through the hallway and Date flicked the tac pad back out "His position has changed. He's in a hangar. This way!"
Dare and Shadow went through a few more halls, with the bots few and far between. They ran into the hangar and saw Eggman... Sonic beside him... Sonic turned and revealed his new look. His quills were an almost black colored dark purple. His eyes, while still green, were faded. Eggman's mech looked like a Tyrannosaurus rex, being hunched over and having similar robotic legs. It has long arms though too, and the fingers could fold together, making the arms resemble blades...
"Amy... You need to see this..." Shadow said as he turned a camera that was on his helmet on, Amy seeing Dark Sonic
"When they tortured him... That's what they did... Oh my..." Amy said on the radio, her voice filled with heartbreak. "...Shadow... Bring. Him. Home."
Dark Sonic said nothing as he looked at Shadow. Shadow smirked "Take care of Eggman. Sonic's mine."
"Copy." Dare said as she raised her pistols. Shadow took off his inhibitor rings and smirked "Alright Sonic, we don't always see eye to eye, but I ain't letting you suffer any longer. I'm bringing you home!"
(Okay, I may have lied, no Super Shadow. Instead it's normal Shadow being awesome! T-that's g-good right!?)
