Shadow: Forces (Cringe)

Chapter 12: Aftermath

Everyone in the Resistance, save for Warwolf since they "didn't exist", were in HQ. It was normal, with Shadow looking over the latest Intel. Then the lights shut off and they saw a bright light from the large TV screen. It was a familiar doctor.
Shadow growled as he saw him. Then the broadcast started. "Hello my inferior animal friends... Long time no see, eh? Well, I've got bad new for you! Sonic and Arnec are now under my control. Two of your greatest warriors, mine... And they won't be the last. I'll take as many as I need to pound you all into dust! Don't even bother surrending..."
The HQ lit back up and Silver punched a crate "He did not just say that..."
"He did, and he's right." Shadow said quietly. Everyone looked at him. "What!?" Blaze yelled. (yes, she's in this.) Shadow nodded "He won't stop until we're nothing but thoughts in the past. But, we can do something... Unite, truly. There are still people out there who think they can fight alone. If Mobius stands divided, it will fall divided. And I don't know if it's just me... But I'd rather die together than separated." he said, his voice almost calming. Knuckles scoffed "You people really believe Shadow!? He tried to kill us all at one point and time! Heck, a family member of egghead made him! How can you trust something created by our enemy!? I say that if you truly believe in saving the world, come with me. Because unlike Shadow, I'll lay it to you straight, no bullcrap! Plus we both know who's not gonna lie..."
Shadow turned his head in Knuckles' direction "Wanna run that by me again!?" He asked as he got up, getting in the Echidna's face. Knuckles was unfazed "Listen, I ain't scared of you!"
"Good. Then you can leave without wetting yourself. Door's right there."
Knuckles chuckled "Fine, anyone who actually wants to save the world, with me! Because we're leaving!" Knuckles yelled before heading out the door. Shadow growled "This isn't an airport, no need to announce your departure!" he yelled before sighing. He looked at Amy. She smiled a little as she placed her hand on his shoulder "He's just stubborn, don't get your quills in a twist!"
"Amy... There is a fine line between stubbornness and stupidity... And with that, I think he crossed it." he said to her. Amy's Emerald green eyes had a strange effect on Shadow. While she was no Maria, Amy was the next best thing: someone who truly believed in him. Someone who convinced him that he wasn't just some monster born in a tube. That he was a person... He had always been curious as to why she was like that. "Amy, why do you trust me so much? You know what I am."
"Of course I do. You're Shadow."
"Shadow the ultimate life form?"
"No. Just Shadow. I know you, for being you. I don't know you for being some label put on you. I know that you want what's best, for the world. But... Sigh... Knuckles just doesn't get it. He... He's the type to think that people can't change."
"I'm guessing “idiot” is the polite term."
"Yeah, it's not. But Shadow... I think being reminded of her, that's the best thing to happen for us. You're becoming you. A leader, someone to look up to."
"So I'm just like Sonic now?"
"No. Because Sonic got people excited at what he was going to do. You get people excited for what they are about to do."
Shadow smirked "Guess that's good."
"It is. Before, a victory was a dream. Now, a third of the world had been liebrated, with more on the way! We have lost many, yes, but don't let that stop you!"
"Amy?"
"Hmm?"
"You're writing my next speech."
"Hah, you bet!"
Shadow slowly smiled as he saw Amy's excitement. Silver took notice and smiled too. Blaze was surprised as she saw the small but still noticeable grin. Meanwhile on the Hrimfaxi, Dare had basically lost it. She had knocked over furniture, clawed the walls, and was in a little blonde ball on the bed. "I thought losing Shadow was bad... But I knew he was still alive... Arnec..."
Suddenly the door opened and Wolffe stepped through. He slowly picked Dare up as she uncurled from her little ball. He held her almost like a baby, comforting her. She then heard Nicole's voice "Thought you could use this. We'll get Arnec back."
"Maybe... Thanks..."
"No problem commander. Your mental health is what matter most. Don't worry about missions for now."
"I wasn't worried about them anyways."
"I know. I hope you get better soon. Wolffe will keep you company. He may be a huge robot, but he's the best I can do."
"Thanks again. Sorry for how stressed I am... Losing him..."
"I know. We all do. Get some rest commander." Nicole said as wolffe sat Dare down on the bed.
"Alright."
Wolffe sat down by the bed and shut down, going into sleep mode. Dare fell asleep again a few minutes later...

A/N: getting back in the groove, so I may update this more often hopefully. But things are heating up now! Knuckles has deserted and made his own faction, and Warwolf is coping with the loss of their leader. Wonder what will happen now. And heck... When's Sonic gonna appear...? Soon... That's all I can say...
