Chapter 15: Ghost Town Duel

A/N: Art by me. Sorry if you know, my art looks bad. Kinda my thing, lol. But that's the damage Blaze did to him. Wasn't her fault though.

Dare and Wolffe sat there in the Hrimfaxi, just about to go on the raid. Dare had Arnec's amulet and sword with her, and a new sheath on her back for Fayn's sword. The ramp opened and they hopped out. The town looked like something out of an old western, although most of the buildings were collapsed. It was quiet...
"Nothing on Wolffe's sensors, not even his radar is picking up anything..." Nicole said on the radio. Dare looked at the amulet "Fayn? Where would it be?" She asked. She turned and saw a large pile of rubble, where a building had collapsed. She then saw the amulet, barely sticking out of the rubble. It was blue, in the shape of a lion. There was a sword next to it too. She heard Fayn
"There they are... Go ahead."
Dare picked them up and felt the same feeling when she had Arnec's amulet and sword. She put Fayn's sword on her back on the new sheath while Arnec's was on her waist. She heard Fayn "It's called the Phobos by the way. Father named our swords. Phobos and Deimos." Dare nodded as she put the other amulet on and gently placed them into the inner pockets of her hoodie. She heard something behind her and her and Wolffe turned. There stood an Artic wolf, looking exactly like Arnec! Except he had on a mask, with two green digital eyes, looking like Wolffe's. He had on a robe, with part of it exposed and showing off some armor plating. There was a purple ruby in the middle of his chest... "Arnec!" Dare yelled. Arnec stood still, like he was made of stone. The she heard the hiss, and Arnec took the mask off, revealing his scarred face. His right cheek might as well have been completely gone, with his lips burned and his entire right side of his mouth exposed. The burns reached up to about halfway up his right cheek, almost getting to the ear. Dare was heartbroken by his scarred face but stood her ground. Arnec put the mask back on, hissing as it was sealed. Arnec pulled out two small swords, each one looking like katanas with paracord wrapped handles. He leaned forward, blades inverted in hand. Dare could hear Fayn "Dare... Please try and don't hurt him."
"I won't. Wolffe, move, he's mine..."
Wolffe nodded and scooted back behind some rubble. Fayn spoke again
"I'll try and help, but I can't do much because I'm well... You know."
Dare concentrated on Arnec, and was ready

Arnec charged, cyan light coming off his blades. Dare raised the Deimos and the blades collided, knocking Arnec back. Dare scooted forward and went for a slash, getting deflected by Arnec as he scooted back. She rushed him and swiped up, almost getting Arnec in the face. Dare was vulnerable and Arnec kicked her in the stomach, knocking her back. He went for a slash while she tried to catch her breath. Suddenly the Phobos glowed red and Arnec's blades were blocked! Dare looked and saw what looked like a ghost version of the Phobos, glowing red and being transparent. Dare smiled before shoulder bashing Arnec, knocking him back. She hopped into the air and dropkicked him before doing a back flip and landing perfectly. Arnec turned and growled before scooting back, his blades crackling with electricity as he held one backwards and one normally. She heard Fayn
"Dare, dodge that!" he yelled. She rolled to her left and Arnec shot forward to where she was before going like a whirlwind and flying up a little. He landed and snarled as he looked at her. They both looked at each other before charging, Dare having Deimos in one hand, Phobos in the other. Their blades collided, steel against steel. Both pushed on each other, trying to get the advantage, but they were perfectly even. She heard Fayn again "Listen, I need you to do something... I'm going to overcharge the Phobos, you slash that hose on his stomach. Got it?"
"Yeah!"
"Alright... Here we go..."
The Phobos glowed red again and slowly the sword that blocked it's path began to have smoke come from it. Just a little, but then the Phobos started to cut through the blade! After a few seconds the sword gave and Dare roundhouse kicked Arnec back before rushing forward and slashing up, hitting the hose on his stomach. Arnec shot back, growling before sheathing his swords "We'll fight again, and all my weaknesses will be gone... And you will be too."
He said before dashing away. Dare sighed "Least he's alive... And his arms, he wasn't completely converted it seems." she said to herself. Wolffe just sat there, staring at a wall. He walked up to the pile of rubble and lifted it, revealing a green jacket, some red pants and boots and some gloves... Dare heard Fayn "Well, guess he found my clothes. You can have the jacket."
"You sure?" Dare asked as she picked it up.
"Yeah. Obviously I can't wear it, and every devil hunter jacket needs an owner..."
Dare picked up the jacket, it being thick and made of a green cloth. She heard Fayn again "It's made of a special fabric that comes from mine and Arnec's dimension. It weighs basically nothing."
"Thank you!" Dare said as she put it on, the jacket fitting perfectly. It was long, reaching almost or her ankles, and the inside was a faded yellow. The sleeves were rolled up, a button holding them in place. She walked up to Wolffe and got on the radio "Nicole, this is Warwolf 2, we're ready for pickup."
"Copy that ma'am. Odd, there's no enemies even close... Strange..." Nicole said as the Hrimfaxi arrived. Dare and Wolffe got on board and the ship left. She walked into her and Arnec's room and sat the swords down, amulets beside them. She then heard Nicole "Commander, we've got a problem!" she yelled. Dare rushed into the bridge "What's going on!?"
Nicole turned "The reason there were no bots? They were all attacking our frontine!"
Dare's eyes expanded as she looked at the map. Sure enough, most of Eggman's forces were on the edge of Resistance territory. Dare crossed her arms and shook her head. "Set course for HQ. I'm joining this fight!"
"But what about Shadow, I don't think-!"
"He'll need all the help he can get!" Dare yelled as she left. Nicole looked at Whiplash "So, guess we're headed back to HQ."
"Setting course now." Whiplash said as he input the coordinates. He then looked at Nicole "You know, after a while... You ain't as bad as I thought you'd be."
"Could say the same to you."
Whiplash chuckled "Okay, initiating warp in 3... 2... 1... And go!" the Hrimfaxi shot forward as it warped...
