Chapter 13: Ghosts Of War

A/N: Art is mine. You'll meet her in a minute... And her cape isn't backwards, she's just got a unique quirk. Also a brief rant about OC's at the end. Just in case you know... You don't wanna listen to my rambling over something so little.

The next day Dare woke up, gripping tightly onto the bed. She looked over at the amulet and quickly grasped it. It glowed and she felt something, like she had almost learned something but didn't know what. She reached her hand onto the floor and felt something. She picked whatever it was up and noticed what it was... Arnec's sword... Somehow, it had managed to get back to their room... She looked over and saw some leather and a knife. She walked over and began cutting the leather into strips before making a belt to hook up to Arnec's scabbard. She hooked it up and sat down on the bed. Meanwhile, Warwolf 4-6 were about to get briefed on their mission.

"Alright, you three, here are your new orders, effective immediately. While we were able to do plenty of damage on the Death Egg, it did little to falter the robot production. Luckily destroying that facility did some stuff. But we need to relieve the pressure off of our forces near North point. So you'll be doing recon so a larger force can move in and take it. Warwolf will not be providing support for the mission. But you will be referred to as "Keynote" from now on. You are still a part of Warwolf, but you won't be referred to as such, to ensure secrecy. Nobody can know you exist. So, here is your mission objectives: 1. Recon the area. 2. Secure it if there are any enemies. 3. Exfil. You'll be getting a new squad member. Good look Keynote!" Nicole said before sending them to the hangar. There was a fox with a modified white Wispon. It had a long barrel and a proper stock, with a large scope on top. She was shamrock green, and left handed.
"Her name is Ballista. She's your new sniper, she'll be joining you, play nice. "
Gadget nodded before sitting down in the driver's seat of the gun truck. Lot got in the back seat and Fuchsia in the passenger seat. Ballista got into the bed of the truck and the door opened. The truck slowly slid off the ramp and onto the ground, hopping a sand dune... It was a long road to the destination, but the destination would be most certainly exciting...

"Show them what normal people can do."

They reached a snowy ridge and stepped off the truck. Ballista got off the truck and rested her rifle on her shoulder "Snow... Makes prey a lot easier to spot." she said as frozen breath was exhaled from her. She spoke with a thick (russian) accent. Lot smirked as he checked his drill. Fushsia checked her void one, opening a panel and tuning a dial. Gadget put his on his shoulder and smirked. Ballista then quickly climbed up a tree, raising her rifle
"I'll provide overwatch. Better not have fun without me..." she said on the radio as she hopped from tree to tree. Gadget and the others moved together, the snow crunching under their feet. Each twig snap could potentially be a bot in disquise. After about an hour they reached a mansion. It was quiet... Too quiet...
"Hey, got sights on a mobian. Wolf, Artic fur. Anyone got eyes on?" Ballista said over the radio. Gadget looked over and sure enough saw him... He was in a courtyard with several bots. He looked different though... He had a matte black eye piece over his right eye and his body was a cyborg body, looking like a normal body made of plastic and steel. Eggman had done something to him... Even his wolf tail was gone... Gadget turned on his camera and sent the footage to Nicole. "Wait a second, that's not...? Dare needs to see this!" Nicole said before going off comms. Arnec looked back and immediately spotted them. He growled as he pulled out a new sword from a scabbard on his back. Ballista got on comma "Fuchsia, engage the bots."
Fuchsia nodded before getting ready behind a boulder. Arnec slowly walked towards Gadget, Fuchsia waiting for the fight to start before engaging with the lesser bots. Gadget knelt up and placed his flame wispon on the rubble to brace it before waiting for him to get into range. Before he could though, Ballista took aim. She fired her wispon and Arnec kept his focus on Gadget as he deflected the round with the blade of his sword.
