Part 21: Finding out

POV Velvet:

As I slowly open my eyes, I immediately regret it because of the blinding lights from the sun. I quickly cover them with my arm. Next, I slowly began rubbing the sleep out of my eyes and sitting up to get ready for the day.

After getting dressed and walking out to the kitchen, I heard Jaune downstairs also started to wake up. I began making some breakfast for the both of us.

When Jaune got back up, he greeted me with a warm smile and thanks me for the breakfast. Next, after finishing eating and brushing his teeth, he had to go out for something again. As I heard that, I was done being curious about where he always was going since he always would come home weird late hours also leave early. Once I even think I smelled drugs on him and the scent of blood. So today I decided to follow him and see what he was truly up to.

So after he walked out of the door, I began following him and first, he went to his car, I had to pay a taxi driver to follow him for the day. After thirty minutes, we had driven out to sandy shores. Jaune then turned into a sketchy alley, and I got out of the taxi car and told the driver to wait there then I began following him on foot.

When he finally stopped and walked out of the car, I saw what seemed like ten or more faunus waiting for him and calling him boss for some reason. Next, they walked into what looked like a warehouse of some sort, and when I got in I saw boxes and people filling them up with drugs then putting them into trucks.

I decided it was time to leave, but as I tried, three people grabbed me and brought me to an office and where Jaune was waiting for me.

"Hey Velvet, didn't think I would notice someone following me?" He asked while pouring up some whiskey.

"Jaune, why are you doing this, selling drugs for people?" I asked him, wondering what happened to the person who wanted to become a hero got to this point.

"It's simple really, I tried being a hero but sadly people didn't want or need a hero because they first need someone to fear them," Jaune said to me as he took a sip of his drink.

"So you decided to become the villain instead?" I asked Jaune, disgusted by him doing this sort of stuff.

"Yes, and so can you too Velvet," Jaune said to me as he drank his whiskey.

"And what makes you think I would even join you and not just go to the police?" I questioned him.

"Let me ask you something velvet. Do you wanna continue to live in fear and agony of getting abused, looked down upon just because you are a Faunus?" Jaune questioned me with a raised eyebrow, and I didn't know what to answer because do I really wanna continue to live in fear and neglect?

"Or do you wanna get respected and feared because you take no shit from people and willing to do something about it if you hear people talk shit?" Jaune questioned while finishing his whiskey.

"I...I don't know," I simply replied. Because I truly don't know what I want to be since all my life I've been abused, looked down upon and never been able to something against it because I was scared.

"Then Velvet, I ask of you to join me and my rise to power, to make people finally respect you and fear you," He asked but did I truly wanna go so low to become a criminal, just to get people to finally respect me? But I didn't reply at first since I was in deep thought.

"I don't know If I can become a criminal Jaune," I replied finally after what felt like an hour of silence.

"I was like you Velvet, unsure if I could but look at me now, I have people who respect me, and some even fear me because I'm not willing to take shit from people,"

"Can I at least get some time to think about this?" I asked, needing time to think about this.

"I'll give you a week to think about this, and if you try to contact the police, we will know," He finally answered, and I left to begin thinking if I truly wanted this or not.

It had gone three days and, I was currently walking back home late at night until three drunk men came to me.

"Look at this fucking freak," The first one said to me before kicking me in the stomach.

"People like you should be nothing but slaves," The second one said and lifted me by my ears and punched me in the face before dropping me and kicking me.

"Fuck, freaks, as you should just be our pets since that is all you are good for," The third said before spitting on my face and then leaving me on the ground.

As they left, I truly felt helpless, and I began making my mind that instead of being the one look down upon, I want people to fear and respect me even if I'm Faunus. So I decided to call up Jaune after I got home and patched myself up.

Jaune POV:

As I was, conversing with one of my lieutenants, I suddenly got a scroll called from Velvet, and I answered.

"Hey velvet, made up your mind?" I asked her, and at first, she said nothing until she finally began speaking.

"Yes, I have had enough of being looked down upon, and I wanna join you to get people to finally pay me some respect even if I'm a Faunus,"

"Well, I'm happy to hear that although to know you are loyal to me, I got a job for you," I replied and took out a file of a known gang called the red dragons.

"I want you to hit a warehouse belonging to an enemy gang of mine, called the red dragons. They originally stayed in Mistral but have begun making moves in my territory,"

"I'm doing this alone?" She asked.

"Oh, no, no, you will also work along with some of my men that will be waiting for you. I'll send you the location in a bit, goodbye Velvet,"

"Bye, Jaune," She replied before hanging up.

"Think we can trust her?" My lieutenant asked.

"Yes, we can, trust me," I replied, and he just returned a nod before we began working plans on getting rid of the red dragons.

Busy a lot with school at the moment and can't do much about it. So sorry that some chapters might take longer.
