Part 31: Meeting Ren again.

"Ren?" I said as I heard a familiar voice speak.

"Yea, hey jaune long time no see," Ren said on the scroll.

"Yea, how did you even get this number?" I asked him since after leaving beacon I changed my scroll and number.

"Managed to track you down, but I'm not here to try to have Pyrrha, Nora or even team rwby to speak to you. I wanna talk to you since you are still my friend Jaune," Ren told on the scroll, and I let out a breath, thinking if it was a trap. But at the same time, he was the only person who didn't betray me and instead helped out with training my aura, stood by me when I was at my lowest. He was a true friend.

"Sure, I can send you a text of a cafe which we can meet at in two days?" I asked, and he responded with a yes before I hung up. As the scroll call ended, I let out another breath and sank in the car seat, rubbing my eyes.

"Something wrong, boss?" One of the men sitting in the front seat asked. But I just gave out a small chuckle in response.

"Just finished talking with an old friend," I said, and they nodded before looking out of the car window.

After I got home, I told Velvet about Ren calling me, and she seemed surprised he would try to get in touch with me after what happened at beacon with my fake transcript. But I told her about it. How he never actually betrayed me like some other so-called friends and were a bro to the end.

I also asked her if she wanted to come with and meet him again since we used to hang out before everything went to shit. She responded with a yes also happy to meet him again.

So when the day arrived, we quickly left in my car to meet at a small cafe in town which was famous for having good coffee. At the front of the cafe stood ren in his usual clothes, and we quickly waved high towards him as we walked towards him.

"Hey Ren, velvet deiced to come with," I said as we hugged, then he hugged Velvet.

"It's nice to see you again Velvet, I'm also sorry for what happened to your team," Ren said with a sad smile, but Velvet just shook her hand saying it was good.

"Do the rest of your team and rwby know about this?" Velvet asked as we took a seat in the back of the cafe.

"No, told them I was just heading to see the city and nothing more," Ren answered while sipping some tea.

"Well, didn't wanna see any of them again," I said with a bit of venom in my voice as I thought of the rest of NPR and rwby.

"Yea, I can understand, and I'm sorry for the way they reacted," Ren told me.

"Fuck them anyways, Blake was a fucking terrorist, Yang was no better with destroying clubs and other shit than the flat-chested bitch known as Weiss," I said while trying to drink my coffee without breaking it in anger.

"Not Ruby?" Ren asked curiously since I didn't say anything about her.

"Ruby too, yet she is still young and naive, she doesn't deserve the same amount of hate as the others, Pyrrha and Nora I also thought would have my back, but fucking no," I said as I greeted my teeth at the last part while Velvet and Ren just frowned at the mention of those two.

"Anyways, how is your team doing?" Velvet asked wanting to know how the second strongest team in beacon were doing. Yet ren just looked down.

"Not great since Pyrrha isn't the best leader out there. We aren't either the best team fighters when Pyrrha mostly fights solo. I have to keep Nora in check so she doesn't just rush into a fight head-on and get killed,"

"Well, Pyrrha is a solo fighter, and well, Nora is Nora," I said with a sigh.

"Yea, team rwby is still doing good and doesn't seem to give hardly any shit about what happened to you," Ren said.

"Thought so, yet wanna tip fighting them?" I asked Ren, who looked at me curiously before nodding.

"Ruby, you have to merely get her scythe from her since she knows no hand to hand combat skills whatsoever. Yang, all you have to do is get her fucking angry, and she becomes predictable. Weiss is easy to deal with since she hasn't won a single fight yet. Blake does nothing but run away and perform the same attack pattern, so all you have to learn it and counter it," I said as I was thinking about the different weaknesses of team rwby.

"Huh, never thought about that," Velvet said as she also thought back to team rwby.

"This could be useful in the future," Ren said with a small sinister smile.

"Yea, but how is school going for you?" I asked, wondering how beacon was treating him.

"Well, it's going alright and just the usual nothing new really except some people talking behind our team back about you," Ren answered as he closed his fist.

"Ah, fuck those guys," Velvet, said shocking Ren.

"Since when did you begin to swear?" Ren asked since he thought velvet was too innocent for something like that.

"Always, I just held myself back because of Ruby," Velvet answered as she casually sipped her coffee.

"Anyways, how are you doing Jaune and Velvet?"

"Doing great, meet new friends, have a nice car, a nice apartment and even working within security," Said not wanting ren to know my true. "job,"

"And I'm working at the same job as Jaune, and we even live together," Velvet said with a happy smile.

"Oh, Really, that is great to hear that both of you was able to get back on your feet again," Ren told us, happy both of his friends were doing good.

"Yea, but we aren't together together," Velvet, said wanting to clear up any misunderstandings of them living together.

"Alright, but you two would make a great couple," Ren said with a sly grin teasing both of us as Velvet, blushed thinking back to the day after they went clubbing.

"Already have a girlfriend, but what about you? Anyone catch your interest," I asked, wanting to tease him back.

"Not really since I don't have time and not looking for anyone at the moment, but who is your girlfriend?" Ren asked, wanting to know this new information.

"That is a secret, my dear friend," I answered back with a tiny smirk.

"Okay, but anyways it has been great speaking to both of you again, but sadly I have to get back to beacon because of classes," Ren said while smiling sadly at the last part.

"It's alright, beacon can be pretty busy, but I'm sure we can meet up again," I said with a smile and hugged Ren as we finished up our drinks.

"Well, that was fun," Velvet said as we walked towards my car.

"Yea, it was, but I'm sad I have to lie to him again," I said with a frown.

"We can't tell him about our occupation since he is still a huntsman in training," Velvet told me as we got in.

"Yea, but we can maybe use him," I told velvet as she raised an eyebrow.

"How? and, aren't we friends," She asked, not wanting to use someone like Ren.

"It will only be to gather information about beacon and huntsman in general and for nothing else," I assured Velvet, not liking the idea but, it could be valuable for us in the future.

"Fine, you are the boss, and you call the shots," Velvet said as we drove back home.
