I worked another grueling shift and hung out in the backroom with my co-workers; Holly, Syphia and Dean. I was closest with them, the other people who worked here --Lucile, Jillian, Bradley and Veronica-- they worked the early and late shifts, like the 5am to 11am or 3pm to 8pm. I worked the 9am to 4pm shift, I do take the later or earlier shifts for overtime or to help out and get on my bosses good side.
"You a single gal?" Dean asked, he was hired a few days after me and didn't really know much about me, like Holly and Syphia did.
"Dean, she leaves with the biggest hunk in town," Syphia said, moving a glass of water up to her soft pink tinted lips. Holly peaked around the corner, looking into the backroom. She was working at the counter. The shop was quiet today, we only needed one worker working at a time.
"Yeah, Dallas Winston alright" Holly said, moving back to go help another customer.
"How do you even get a guy like him to live with you?" Syphia asked.
"Eh, he's just a friend. You either love him or hate him" Dean and Syphia started laughing.
"I heard Veronica made it to his bed before" Holly chimed in.
"Wouldn't be surprised. Veronica is like Sylvia, his ex"
"Sylvia is hot!" Dean yelled out. We all started laughing hysterically, Sylvia was also known in this town, like the town's whorebag, good lookin' broad she is.
"I think I'm better looking" Syphia struck a few poses as Dean and I awed.
"Hey, hot chick, ten oclock!" Holly whispered, motioning us to come.
"Yes Captain!" I said, springing up from the box I was seated on. We all rushed out and stood behind the counter. Sylvia walked up to the counter, sunglasses on, which she then removed to reveal her beautiful bright green eyes. Her brown hair was tied up in a high sleek ponytail, she wore a red crop top that wrapped around her so tightly, making her breasts pop. She wore a leather jacket and black skinny jeans. It was the first time I've ever seen her in person and so close. I've read about her in the newspaper and rumours, but never like this. She was as hot as people say.
"Black coffee with cream, please" She spoke, her voice was soft and sharp, like a singer's voice, I liked it, it had a more west coast accent to it.
"Yes ma'am, coming right up, anything else?" Holly said, Syphia and Dean backed away, Sylvia was intimidating for sure, even Holly, one of the toughest girls I know, was scared, I was too. I started making the coffee and brought it to her table, she glared at me, looking me up and down.
"Dallas has really downgraded, hasn't he?" She said, flicking on her sunglasses again.
"At least he isn't get two timed"
"You wanna say that again?"
"No ma'am!"
"That's what I fucking thought. Bring your sass mouth around me again and I'll kill you"
"I fully understand" And I scurried away. Usually I'd say some sassy thing, but I couldn't get the balls to do it again.
"Jesus, Sylvia is scary" I said, sitting back down on my box.
"That's why we all forced you to serve her," Syphia laughed.
"Next time, Dean will be ordering for her and you'll be serving"
"I agree," Holly said, looking angrily at the two of them.
Holly was the oldest out of all of us, she was 22 and she was tough as hell. Dean was 19 and Syphia was also 16, like me, turning 17 in January, two months from now. Holly knew a few things about dealing with people, she trained Syphia when Syphia was 15 and now we get Syphia to deal with angry customers. But there was something with Sylvia that none of us could handle, not even Holly. How did Dallas handle her?
