I wasn't questioned when I got to the cooler, they just left me in a room for a while and kept close watch on me.

"What's going to happen now?" I asked this pretty female officer.

"We're just needing to find Dallas Winston. And most likely a court case will be filed"

"Will I be sent home? Anytime soon?"

"We will need a phone number to be able to send you home." said the officer, I gave her my parents phone number since Sodapop couldn't answer any phone and I don't want to call a payphone.

It was about a day later once my dad showed up. I was walked out by the lady officer and watched as I got into the vehicle.

"Hi dad," I said, sounding super saddened.

"Your mother is not very happy with you"

"And you're not?"

"You do crazy things for love"

"Mhm and I'm stuck trying to figure out who I love"

"You know, I dated your mom because she was pretty, married her after the third date and I never got to know her. Until years ago when we moved in with each other. I don't like how selfish she is. I wasn't financially secure to get a divorce and when we were finally at the right amount of money, I considered it, but then Owen passed and I paid for everything. But your mother wanted me to act like I hate Owen for being gay"

"I don't want to talk about his death"

"Laura, you're a lot like me"

"I've noticed"

"And Poppy is a lot like your mother"

"I've noticed that too"

"Smart ass"

"That's the first time I've heard you swear"

"I ain't allowed to, its the whole Mika thing"

"Mom hates it when people swear other than her"

"That's why I want a divorce"

"A restraining order would be nice" I said, my dad smiled at me, the first time I've ever seen him genuinely smile.

"Are you ok with me liking Dallas Winston?" I asked, propping my feet up on the dashboard and opening the window, feeling the fresh air in my hair.

"I'm not, but if he makes you happy, then that's how it's going to be"

"I love you, Dad"

"I love you too, Munchkin"

The rest of the car ride was pretty silent, we would sometimes point things out on the drive back home and laugh but that was about all.
