"Hana if you're going to sit their all silent treatment then at least stop biting your nails. You'll end up with a rag nail. That shits painful." Kaori tutted as the group was eating lunch together.

The deadline had arrived for Hana and Kaori's deal, and yet Hana had yet to deal the news out of her relationship with Ushijima. It's not like she hadn't tried, that week had been an intense match of constant defeat.

Whenever she tried to bring it up casually, something got in the way, whether be a teacher or a sudden topic change. Any other attempts were thwarted by her own reluctance to talk about her feelings.

Time wasn't up yet though. Kaori had given her until the end of day- most likely out of pity, or perhaps because she knew Hana too well- which also means it won't be over until the practice with aoba josai is done with.

"I'm not giving anyone silent treatment. I'm always this quiet." She told her.
"Well not really," Mari started, "the only times you're this quiet is when you have flash cards to look through you nerd." Aya giggled softly, but still fought back on the rude remark.

"Let the girl live you two. Besides that, didn't someone say they wanted drinks? You can stop bothering the poor girl and get us some Mari." Her sister slumped and let out a long, dramatic groan.

"But I'm so fatiguedddd, much too lethargic. Rock Paper Scissors for who goes to the vending machine?" The four stuck out their fists, Hana getting the short straw with her lone paper.

"The usual, peasant! Two peach ice teas and a cold brew coffee! And get what ever you want, plebeian." Kaori ordered jokingly, shooing Hana off her seat and they watched her huff and shuffle out of the classroom.

The drinks machine was just outside the building beside the gym, and the weather wasn't too bad so Hana didn't mind the short break from stressing on over-due truths being kept from her best friends.

She faced the machine, and went to order, but someone stood in her way.
"Tendo? Isn't there a different machine closer to your classroom than this?" She asked him, as he grinned and clicked on the buttons to order before her.

"Yeah, but me and a few of the other guys are getting last minute practise in the gym before the game. We got permission to use it." Hana looked over his shoulder to see the open gym door, and heard the faint squeaking of shoes on the wooden floor.

"Hmm, are you sure you can cope without your amazing manager? Don't you need some matured supervision?" She smirked, lightly shoving him as he got his drinks and ordered her own.

"I'm wounded Ms Manager. Really, I am. And I wouldn't say your completely matured yet Hana. I mean you haven't even had a boyfriend before. I'd say that makes you as much a kid as us." Hana choked on her own spit for a moment, the readily generated snarky reply getting caught in her throat.

"Yeah I suppose you're right about that one, ahaha... well gotta go, tell the others I said hi, see you at the match later!" She called, quickly speeding off and leaving him in her dust.

"That's.... sus," Tendo narrowed his eyes at her figure getting further and further away. "I wonder how this has developed." He asked himself, as he headed back to the gym.
~~~
Ushijima had heard the distant rumble of an engine calm down not long ago, and now from the inside of the gym he could see the flood of white and blue track clothes pooling out of their school bus.
They were directed by their coach to the changing rooms that connected to the gym, and Ushijima was peeking through the window with full attention, trying to narrow the crowd to someone specific.
He had to admit, even if he wasn't nervous about the match, there was a sense of anticipation bubbling up in his chest. The school day had seemed longer than usual, and now that it was finally over, he and his team had already set everything up for their game.
There was more of an audience than usual as well, which he supposed was to be expected. Shiratorizawa and Aoba Josai had history, and word of their games together were spread far and wide due to their rivalry.
Ushijima eyed Hana in the corner, presenting a clip board to coach which seemed to maintain their attention. This would also be the first match Hana would see him go head to head with the enemy, and in a way that made him happy.
She'd never come to the matches before she was involved with the club, or at least he never noticed her if she had. He told the others he was going to the bathroom, and marched out the door.
To anyone else, it would be considered stalkerish, but Ushijima couldn't help keeping an eye on the opposing team's allocated room.
He had to talk to him. It was important. The holler of voices seemed to get louder as the door was swung open, and no one even noticed Ushijima sitting one of the spare chairs, a few feet away from the gym entrance. No one caught his eye yet, until the back of the crowd was reveal, and his eyes lit up.
"Tooru Oikawa." He called. A tall boy with fluffy chocolate brown hair, stopped abruptly, recognising that voice anywhere. He gestured for his team mates to go on without him, and turned sourly to face Ushijima.
"Well look who it is. Coming to brown-nose me again to convince me to join your stupid team? I wouldn't be surprised. Your infamous for your iron will after all." He spat. Ushijima never flinched, nor stirred.
Him and Oikawa had been at each others throats on court ever since they first played each other. It was only a year ago when Ushijima had started urging him to transfer schools and join their team, and yet Oikawa had gotten more riled up every time.
Although seeing as this was their last year of highschool, the ambition was looking more bleak than ever.
"You're better suited here Oikawa. You've got potential. Our team could pursue it. You should have gone to Shiratorizawa. You could've got in on sports scholarship if you didn't want to take the entrance exam." He told him.
Oikawa just sneered at him, his nose rising in the air as he scoffed.
"You really need to stop sticking your nose in other peoples' business Ushijima. It's really unattractive. Probably why you don't have a girlfriend." Oikawa spat snarkily.
"A girl would either have to be really dumb or really sad to date a conceited jerk like you." He crossed the line with that comment. The thought of it made Ushijima's blood boil.
He knew it was just the resentment towards him talking, but he couldn't be further from the truth about Hana. Their staring contest was cut off as a girl approached the two.
"Everyone's waiting for you for the warm up Ushijima. You need to get out there." Hana called, peering at the clip board in her arms.
"Hana could you come here for a second." Ushijima asked, still not breaking his glare. She brought her attention back to him and came closer.
"What is it-" Ushijima slid one hand onto her waist and brought the other up to cup her cheek, pressing his lips to hers. Her eyes widened, and Ushijima opened one of his to glare at oikawa once more. He looked extremely shaken and his jaw had dropped. Hana pulled away, her face flushed.
"What the hell Toshi?! You can't just do that randomly in front of people!" She scolded him. He gazed at her and his eyes softened.
"It was for motivational purposes..." she scoffed and walked past them to the gym, beckoning him to follow her. Ushijima's stare pierced through Oikawa.
"I'll see you on the court." He uttered, before following Hana with a smirk on his face.
