Hana woke up to the sound of buzzing in her ear. It was 7:34 in the morning, a few hours before her alarm was set, and after trying to ignore the noise a little longer, she gave into the disturbance and brought her phone to her ear.
"What?" She asked groggily into the speaker.
"Happy birthday Hana-chan!! Big 17, you're getting so old you grandma." Hana quickly pulled the phone away from her, Kaori's voice piercing through her head ruthlessly.
"Do you know what time it is? This is kinda overkill don't you think?" She asked.Hana heard a group of giggles from the other end, along with the shushes of more hushed voices.
"Welllll... here's the thing, we have a super amazing day planned for you which we know you'll absolute adore- BUT we kinda all met up like ten minutes ago outside your house and we need let in." She said cheerily.'Geez, how many of them is there? It's still frikin dark outside, what were they thinking?'
"Ughhh alright gimme a minute, and whoever's out there better be fucking quiet because my mom's still asleep. If you wake her up you're all dead." Hana growled, hanging up the phone and and crawling out of bed. She didn't even bother changing out of her pyjamas as she begrudgingly dragged her feet down stairs and to her front door.
As the click from the lock was heard, the door swung open and a large group of the girls and her team mates, all holding plastic bags greeted her.
"Happy birthday Hana-chan!!!" They said together, before quickly being shushed by the girl from fear of her mother waking up."Oh don't worry about it Hana, we texted your mom a few days ago to ask her if we could come over for your special day. She was totally cool with it. She's expecting us if anything." Mari claimed. Hana stared at them before moving to the side to let her friends out of the cold.
"You guys didn't have to force yourselves to come you know. I'm not surprised the girls are here, but they didn't threaten you guys to come right?" Hana asked the boys.
"Nah we wanted to come. At first it was just Tendo because he heard Kaori talking about it, then he told Reon and Yamagata and me, so we tagged along, Ushijima kinda just came because he wanted to. You're our friend and manager after all." Eita explained.
They were all herded into the living room and sat together on the couch and carpet, trying to warm themselves up.
"Aww you look so cute in your pj's Hana-chan!" Tendo piped up. Hana stood dawning a large sweater exposing her shoulder, and almost covering the shorts she wore."I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not so I'll just stop you there. Hang tight, I'm gonna go get changed." As she turned to reach the stairs, Hana was quickly stopped by Kaori holding a bag to her face.
"Wait! We picked these out just for you Hana. A special outfit for a special gal. You're gonna love it." She laughed excitedly. Hana slowly took the bag, smiling at her friend before trudging up the stairs.
She got to her room and stripped, taking the clothes out of the bag, and trying them on for size. She looked at herself in the mirror, wearing a blue, checked button up collar shirt with a black skirt with golden buttons lined all the way down in two rows.
'Huh, she wasn't wrong. It's really cute, but does she realise how cold it is? Whatever we do today, I'm going to be freezing out there.' She cringed, pulling on a pair of high tops, brushing through her hair and returning to the living room.
"I admit it Kaori, you're a genius in your craft. I look fire." Hana smirked, sitting down on the carpet.
"I knew you'd love it. I made sure to run it over the girls first, and also Ushijima." She winked.Hana raised her brow and looked at the boy, his gaze averting to the window to watch the snow softly fall. 'So he likes it too? That's.... nice.' Hana smiled at the thought.
"One thing though, you planned today out right? How am I supposed to leave the house in a skirt and not freeze? It's baltic outside." Kaori laughed and stood up to address the group.
"Well Hana, me being one of your bestest friends in the whole entire world of the universe, I know you better than anyone. Bar Mari and Aya, but we vibe with that. Anyways, I wanted to make your birthday special by doing what I know you love the most. You're undoubtedly unsocial and I already know you would find leaving the house on a cold day like this pretty shitty, soooo we've planned an entire day of doing whatever fuck we want in your house all day!!" She shook her hands in excitement.
Hana stood and threw herself on her friend, coming as a surprise to the guys.
"You are one slick bitch you know that? You read me like a book Kaori." She smirked, releasing her and sitting back down. The guys all dumped their bags on the floor, revealing the mass amounts of snacks and food they brought, while Aya and Mari started unloading all the drink options like brought. The day went on, everyone just relaxing and laughing together, joking and reminiscing of old times.
"Hey Hana, is this your dad?" Yamagata said, peering at a picture of a slightly younger Hana, along with her mother and a tall man by their side. Her eyes immediately brightened, widening and a large smiling adorning her features.
"Yeah it is. He's coming home from Iceland soon to spend Christmas with us. I'm really excited about it. His company is super strict about holidays, so he hardly ever gets to come home. I really miss him a lot." She smiled.
Ushijima sat quietly at the side, just peering over to look at her happy face every now and then. 'She's never this happy surrounded by so many people. I'm glad she's enjoying herself.' He thought. Mari suddenly had a scary idea, grabbing everyone's attention.
"Speaking of photos..." she ran to a closet kept in the corner of the room, rummaging through it until she pulled out a thick spiralled book. "Check this out!!" Hana stared at her mortified, swiping at the book.
"Don't you dare Mari, that is so fucking embarrassing. Seriously I will hurt you." She threatened. Aya and Kaori giggled, holding Hana down so everyone could gather around Mari and investigate what was so important to keep secret.
She began flicking through the pages, each with multiple photos of Hana growing up.
"HOLY CRAP HANA YOU'RE SO CUTE." Tendo yelled, laughing at a picture of five year old Hana with a short little bob cut."I'm going to throw all of you out into the cold and lock you outside." Hana grumbled through gritted teeth, cringing at each of the boys reactions.
"Pfft...Hana, you know I respect you, you being our manager and all, but... look. You're in a little sailor dress." Yamagata snorted in laughter.Eventually as the book was passed around, it finally landed in Ushijima's lap. Reluctant at first, he tried to restrain himself due to Hana's disappointment.
However the curiosity got the better of him as he skimmed through the pages, randomly stopping to focus on one. It was a picture of Hana perched on her fathers shoulders, her eyes closed and huge grin on her face. She had short dark hair with pink and purple clips keeping it out of her face. She couldn't have been older than seven.
"Look guys, Wakatoshi's blushing!!" Tendo announced. Everyone laughed at his change in stoic behaviour, causing him to quickly move on to a different page and look away from the group.
"Not you too Toshi..." Hana sighed, rubbing her temples.
She finally broke free from captivity and ran to him, snatching the book out of his arms and shutting it abruptly.
"That's enough of that." She said, returning it to the closet and slamming the doors shut."Oooh Ushijima why do you like so sad?" Kaori asked giddily. He looked at her and then to the ground.
"No I don't. You must be seeing things." He said calmly, but he knew he wanted to see more pictures of miniature Hana.
