Hana picked at the skin around nails as she tried desperately to get her brain going.

It was currently Thursday afternoon, and ever since the start of the week when she and Ushijima had been busted, Hana had been trying to conjure up a way to tell the twins and other boys in a way that would somehow breeze past in a very blaze way- if that was even an option at this point.

It had become more of a competition of Hana and Ushijima's relationship rather than a possibility to their little group. Bets had been made, bounties had been placed. And Hana really didn't want to see the aftermath of an over-the-top boyfriend reveal.

Even the word made her cringe. To her, Toshi was just the guy she didn't absolute hate being around, and the person who didn't completely socially exhaust her. That was pretty much the highest compliment she could offer a person.

"Watanabe" her name was called
"Magnesium sulphate" Hana answered her teacher without even looked up. She learned her lesson in the past for getting distracted during class. Hana had become a machine multitasker.

Such skills were needed if she wanted to keep her thoughts in order fashions. The class had soon ended and lunch finally came.

As per usual the group of four pulled their chairs together to eat, but Hana was feeling jumping even thinking of her situation around the twins, especially since Kaori- who had previously threatened to tell them herself- was sitting there enjoying the show of a clueless Hana squirming in her seat.

"You seemed kinda dazed today Hana, you had your head down all day. You doin ok?" Aya asked her and Hana began to sweat a little.

"Yeah now that you mention it, I noticed that too. You were like totally on a different planet during chemistry. And that's your favourite subject. You feeling sick or somethin? Hungry? Accidentally get caught up with a gang of thugs?" Mari added.

Hana stared at her in confusion as to how she came to that possibility.

"Oh Mari, Hana would never do something like that without telling us, now would she? Isn't that right Hana? So do tell us, why so distracted? Hm?" She grinned smugly, and at that moment Hana picked out the song she'd play at Kaoris funeral.

"Well... you see I was dazed because, uh.. the... penguins!" She received a silent reply, her friends staring her strangely.
"You were dazed.. because of penguins,"
"Yes the penguins."
"Care to provide some context?" Aya asked.

"So basically I read this super interesting book the other day, it was called 'The Great History of Hopper Penguins' real page turner. Anyways so I was reading this book and just kept thinking how we should really do more for the Penguins, like the ice caps are melting, people. It's not like they pose us a threat either. So really we should all do more to protect not only hopper Penguins, but all species of mammal and marine life in the Antarctic region." She blurted out.

Kaori was practically trembling trying to keep herself from cackling. It wasn't often she'd get to experience Hana flustered but damn was it hilarious.

"Well... if you feel that strongly about Penguins then I guess live your best life Han-Hans. Just don't get distracted in class! I need you in case I get stuck and have to peek and at your page." Mari winked, tapping Hana's head.

Hana sighed at relief, yet in the back of her head there was a thought biting at her. Because if her friends really bought that she felt strongly about flightless birds then she must really be more of a boring 17 year old than she thought. She didn't even like birds in general.

                                ~~~
"So I'll guessing you haven't told them yet." Ushijima asked Hana as they mopping the floor side by side.
"Apparently I have a new found appreciation for Penguins all because I haven't told them. So no. I have not." She replied.
"Well what's the worst that'll happen? They seem like they'll support you no matter what happens. I'm sure they wouldn't mind."
"Of course they wouldn't mind. In fact they'd be overjoyed that I'm less of a loner. It's just such a bother you know... feelings are so... icky. Like how about I just send them a dove or pigeon with a little message like they did 3000 years ago. It was less of a big deal back then." He chuckled at her comment.
"I don't think pigeons would suffice in this day and age. And I don't think you could train a dove to do that before tomorrow. If you really don't want to tell them, than I could try to talk to Kaori about it. I understand if it's too embarrassing and makes you uncomfortable." Hana sudden become soft.
She didn't want Toshi to think she was ashamed that they were secretly dating.
"No. Kaori right, they deserve to know. And I'm in no way embarrassed that I like you Toshi. I'm just childish. They will definitely know by the time the week ends." He smiled slightly to himself.
It was nice to hear that Hana was ok with people knowing. It meant she didn't regret anything.
"Ok then. Aside from that, has everything been sorted out for the game tomorrow? This will be our first home match in a while." Hana pulled some folded notes from her pocket and nodded her head reading through them.
"Yeah everything's been dealt with. They'll arrive a little before the bell rings for the end of the day. All of the team is being excused from last period for prep. I'd say there's gonna be a bit of an audience knowing our history with Aoba Josai." She skimmed over the pages.
"That fine. My team will win either way." Hana sighed at his usual over confidence.
"Let's hope so mr high horse."
