Asking all the Wrong Questions

"How do I look?" I ask while entering Nate's kitchen.

He looks up from making his sandwich and let's his jaw drop.

"Absolutely stunning." Is his answer.

My dress is short and navy blue with matching stilettos. The bridesmaids will be wearing the same thing, except in gray.

I blush under his gaze and move towards him. Gently, I wrap my arms around his neck and kiss him square on the lips.

"You'll make a beautiful bride one day."

"I hope that day comes soon." I wink at him and grab my car keys.

"Love you, Lea!"

"I love you too, Nate!"

By the time I got there, Brianna was already in her wedding gown.

"Thank god this dress still fits. I could of sworn I was eating like a madwoman the past few months." She remarks while fixing her close to perfect veil.

Liam is one lucky bastard because Brianna is absolutely one of a kind.

"Well you look great, this wedding dress suits you perfectly." I say giving her a thumbs up.

Her bridesmaids soon enter the room and flood her with compliments.

"The wedding is starting in less than 5 minutes, we need to get the bridesmaids and maid of honor out there!" Carolyn, the wedding coordinator yells.

I kiss Brianna on the cheek and send her an encouraging smile. She was shaking. Brianna hardly ever got nervous.

"There's nothing to be nervous about. You are going to be married within the hour and be whisked away to a wonderful honeymoon and then you'll be living in San Francisco."

Her body visibly relaxes as I leave her with her last few moments of not being married.

We all scurry out of the room and stride down a long hallway that leads to the exit.
The setup is beautiful. Flowers of all types are lined up and down the aisle. We are surrounded by trees which shade us from the setting sun.

All of the guests are sitting and looking quite expectant. Liam's folks are here as well as Brianna's mom. Of course her dad is about to walk her down the aisle.

Bridesmaids and groomsmen begin to walk down the rose petaled aisle.

While glancing around at the scenery, someone tall catches my eye. His hair looks oddly familiar. When he turns around and gives me a full view of him, I know exactly who it is.

"Cory," I mutter under my breath.

"Close. My name is Marcus and I'll be walking you down the aisle this fine evening." A tall man with a buzz cut loops his arm around mine.

"I'm Lea."

"It's an honor to meet you."

"So your Liam's best man?" I ask skeptically.

"You betcha." He responds with a cheeky smile.

"We're on next." I inform Marcus.

He nods, not letting me out of his grasp.

"You guys can start walking-" Carolyn looks down at her watch. She snaps her fingers, that's our cue to start walking.

Marcus pulls me to him, probably a little too close than my liking as we walk down the aisle.

I use this time to try and find him.

He's standing tall and proud in an exquisite suit next to other groomsmen.
Not much has changed besides the fact that he is taller and he looks like he has been working out every chance that he gets.
