It was strange how normal the rest of the summer seemed to be. The daily activities continued: archery, rock climbing, Pegasus riding. Campers played capture the flag—avoiding Zeus' Fist out of fear—and sang at the campfire. They raced chariots and played practical jokes on the other cabins.

Mrs. O'Leary howled at night when she got lonely for her old master. Percy told Veronica what'd happened to Daedalus. Turns out, he'd died to destroy the Labyrinth.

Veronica spent most of her time avoiding everyone. Even when she interacted with others, she was distracted. She eventually decided to talk to Eve and Jasmine, who were in Jasmine's cabin. She told them about what'd happened in the Labyrinth, every time she'd gone in. She still remained vague about some events, though.

"Wait, so he kissed you?" Eve asked. "Or did you kiss him first?"

"He kissed me," Veronica replied.

"Was it any good?" Jasmine asked.

"I—Jazzy, shut up!" Veronica said, smiling for the first time in a few days.

"You're blushing," she told Veronica. "Out of remembering how good it was or being ashamed of how bad it was?"

"You make it sound like we banged!" Veronica said.

"Where are the juicy deets?" Jasmine asked. "Did he at least slip you the tongue?"

Veronica pushed her off the bed. Jasmine fell to the floor of her cabin, swatting at Veronica. "I hate you," she said, pouting.

Eve rolled her eyes. "Okay, so none of this is important," she decided. "I wanna know how Annabeth reacted to this."

"Oh," Veronica said. "Well, she started to get pettier. I didn't really know how to respond, so I responded by threatening her a lot."

Jasmine lightly shoved Veronica. "Typical Roni," she said.

"I say you slit her throat," Eve said. "Don't let some blonde girl steal your man just 'cause she feels entitled to him."

"I—what the hell, Eve?" Veronica said. "I'm the psycho here, not you!"

Eve shrugged. "She gets worse, you know what to do."

"No," Veronica said. "She's tolerant know. We just tolerate each other. I am not killing her for now. Now shut up and go find some scrawny flirt you can beat up for daring to call you pretty."

"Whatever," Eve said. "Let's go for a run. There might be some older kids I can beat up."
