Late October

"Umi, I'm heading out with some friends. I'll be back by 11."

"Alright. Just be safe and have fun."

I zipped up my boots, zipped my jacket, straightened my hijab, put my phone, keys, and money in my pocket and headed out of the door. I was going to hang out with a few friends I made at the community school I was attending. I walked down my street, street lights lit and everyone in their homes. I reached the bus stop and had my money ready. I put my earphones in and chose a song to listen. I looked up and down the street, searching for the bus. Finally the bus arrived, so I got my change out, put in the slot, and found a seat.

The bus ride went quickly as we arrived to my stop. I hopped off of the bus and walked to the pub I was meeting them at. I walked swiftly down the lit street and finally reached the pub. I walked into the small bar, spotting my friends in the booth near the back.

"Hey April!" Tom called. "Come over here!" I smiled and walked over to him and 2 other girls, Sam and Lana. I sat down next to Lucy, facing Tom and Sam, with his arm around her shoulders.

"Hey guys! What's up?"

"Nothing much. Just havin' a drink? You want one?" He asked.

"Sure. I'll just have water."

"Alright, I'll be back." He left the booth and walked over to the bartender. I looked over to Lana and Sam. "So what's up?" I asked.

"Well, Sam over here fancies Tom."

"Oh my gosh! Really?" Sam nodded yes, her cheeks turning red. At that moment, Tom returned with a glass of water with a straw. "Here you go."

"Thank you." I took a sip of water, smiling at Sam through the glass. I placed the cup back down in front of me and started a conversation.

We all stayed at the bar, talking, laughing, and having fun. At around, 10:15, Tom made a suggestion to go to a park nearby. So, we all got up and got ready to walk out of the door. I stood up to put my jacket on and followed behind Tom, Sam, and Lana. We reached the door and as I was about to step outside, a strong hand yanked me back in and turned me around to face them. He was a large, muscular man with sleeve tattoos and an angry face.

"You little bitch!" He shouted. "You stole my wallet", waving his wallet in front of my face.

"I didn't steal anything!" I shouted back, trying to loosen his grip.

"You think I'm stupid? I saw my wallet in your back pocket!" I was very confused. I didn't take his wallet. I hadn't even seen him in the bar. He opened it, appalled at what he saw. "And you took all my money!"

"I didn't take anything you prick! Now let me go." I snatched my arm out of his tight grip and turned around towards the door, only to find that my friends were gone. My friends were no where to be found and I was being accused of stealing. So much for wanting to have some fun. The man grabbed my arm again and pulled me back into the bar where everyone was watching us. "You're not going anywhere! I'm calling the police." As he was pulling me back into the bar, I elbowed him in his side and kicked him in his back, causing him to land on the table behind him, falling to the floor. He looked up at me from the floor with a grimace on his face. Before he could stand up, I turned around to leave but two other large men were blocking my way. "Excuse me." I said calmly but the men refused to move. "Well, if you're not going to move, I guess I'll move you myself." I kicked one of the men in his private area, causing him to cringe and drop to the floor. The man next to him tried to grab me but I ducked and dropkicked him onto the floor. Now all three of the men were on the floor in pain while everyone else watched. I straightened out my clothes and finally walked out of the bar. As I walked out, I saw the flashing lights of 2 police cars, knowing that they were waiting for me.
