**Expect a longer chapter the next time! I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been super busy with school. I hope you all are well!**
The stench was extremely strong and we hadn't even dug up the bodies yet. I began gagging, forcing the vomit back down because I was not about throw up. "I'm gonna be sick", I said, clutching my stomach. Curtis and I continued digging, gagging as we inched closer to the corpses. I dug up another pile of dirt before hitting one of the bodies. I was nervous to continue digging, not wanting to see their pale and cold faces. The amount of dirt between them and our shovels was thinning by the second. As I went down for another handful of dirt, the shovel stopped, signaling that we had reached the bodies. Nathan continued gagging obnoxiously.
"Nathan can you please stop that! Is that really necessary?!" I shouted at him. He rolled his eyes and stood up straight so that we could get the bodies out. I went in again to get the dirt out but hit something and what rolled out was a hand. A human hand. Everyone gasped and stared at it in disbelief. Curtis walked away while Simon and I wrapped the bodies up in burlap bags. It was weird thinking that I was almost used to knowing what we did; it was weird that it started not to bother me as much. Crazy shit like this was bound to happened eventually with our powers.
"You alright? I thought you would have punched me by now" Nathan stated.
"I'm fine. Really I am" Kelly responded while continuing to dig. Thankfully, we tied up the bodies, threw them in the trunk and were ready to leave. But it's not the fact that we had the bodies that worried me; it was what if someone else found them.
"Let's go" Curtis breathed, keeping his eyes off of the bodies. But of course Nathan had to be the stupid one who picked up the hand and threw it into the car. No one but him was amused.
When we got back to the community center, we had to haul the bodies in which was not only disgusting but nerve wrecking to think that someone might have randomly walked in. We hauled the heavy bodies silently down hallways until we reached the room that would hold the bodies until we could put them somewhere safer. Nathan unlocked it and as we were throwing them in, Nathan attempted to snatch off Kelly's cap saying "I like your cap" but not only did the cap come off, her hair did too, revealing her newly bald head. "No!" she shouted, but it was too late.
"Holy shit" I murmured. She put her hands on her head and ran away, embarrassed.
"Did you know she was bald?" Simon asked.
"Of course not twat."
"She looked like an alien" Alisha said, smiling.
"Don't be mean…she kinda did, didn't she?" Nathan responded, laughing also.
"You guys are so rude" I stated before running out to find her. I ran out of the community center, calling her name, hoping that she wasn't very far away. "Kelly!" Just when I was about to go back inside, I heard someone crying. I looked in the direction it came from and found Kelly sitting in a dark corner of the building. I ran over to her who had her face in her hands, bawling her eyes out.
"Kelly, are you ok?"
"No! I'm not fuckin' alright! Just go away."
"I'm not-"
"I said go away! I don't wanna talk to anyone right now. I just want to be alone."
I sighed and said "Call me if you need anything" before walking away slowly and back into the community center. Just as I was walking in, Nathan was walking out with her cap and wig in his hands.
