I am so sorry that I had to take a 5 month hiatus. It was difficult trying to keep my other story (that was my 1st priority) updated as well as keeping up with schoolwork and college stuff. But here is the long awaited chapter where deadly changes take form. Enjoy.

That morning after it happened, I woke up in my bed with dried blood under my nails. I don’t remember what time Simon came home either. I try not to remember what happened because it makes my heart shiver. Now we’ve got another murder on our hands. After getting dressed and grabbing something to eat, I began walking to community center when I heard someone jogging behind me. I had my headphones in when I see who it was running towards.

“Hey” Simon said to me.

“Hi.” I put the song on pause and took out my headphones.

“Um...are you ok?”

“Yeah. I guess so...I’m not really sure how I feel about last night...I really am sorry for creeping on you. I guess I was getting a little possessive.”

“No. I-It’s me who should be sorry. I should’ve listened to you.”

“Don’t worry about it. If anyone asks, we’ll say she’s on vacation, alright? Or on some medical leave.”

“Ok...I...didn’t mean to kill her.”

“How about we just forget about it, ok?”

“Well...that’s kinda hard when we have the body in the freezer.”

The pale sun was shining for once through translucent clouds. I felt really nice having the light of the sun melt my shivering fingers lightly laced with someone else’s DNA. The clouds were almost invisible and the sunlight glinted off of the dark lake in the center of it all. After we arrived and were dressed in our jumpsuits, the 7 of us gathered on a bench, watching as these young adults dressed like they just walked out of J. Crew talking about whatever explicit acts they were involved in but not anymore.

Nathan, with a cigarette between his fingers stated “That...that ain’t normal.”
“It sure isn’t. That’s the most random shit I’ve seen all day” I replied, turning away like the other 6 of us.

“She went to my school,” Alisha began. “This one time…” I kinda zoned out because all she was doing was shaking the bench, moaning.

“Ok Alisha! We get it” I exclaimed, annoyed by the sound.

“Try that on your driver’s test. You’re definitely gettin’ a fail” Nathan added. “Or a pass. And maybe some kind of internal injury.” I chuckled a bit. He turned and smiled at me afterwards, looking a bit satisfied that he made me laugh since no one else did.

“This is what happened to some girls in my estate” Kelly began, talking about the strange group of suddenly innocent young people. “No one’s even gettin’ pregnant anymore.” Then she looked to Simon. “What about some of your friends?”
But of course, Nathan had to add his two cents. “I’m sure that that’s generally referred to as a pedophile ring.”

“I’m not a pedophile” Simon defended.

“Nathan, you’re always being an asshole towards him. Leave him alone” Niamh demanded.

“Yeah, you’d screw your own sister for a piece of cheese.”

“I don’t even like cheese.”
