"Has anyone seen Niamh?" I asked. Nathan rolled his eyes and turned to close his locker. "Are you just gonna ignore me or are you going to tell me where your sister is? She hasn't been here since we moved the bodies."
"How would I know?"
"You should know. She is your sister."
"True…I haven't seen her either." He looked concerned and it made me feel good that he was worried about his little sister. But the both of us were worried about her whereabouts.
"Anyway, we would've been arrested by now if she found the bodies" Alisha cut in.
"They could be waiting until we're all together" Simon stated.
"What time does she usually get here?" Kelly asked.
"Around 8." We all ran out to the parking lot, silently waiting for Sally to show up. My leg kept shaking and my heart started beating heavily.
"What if she finds them then what do we do?" I asked quietly.
"We become comfortable with the idea of us rotting away in jail" Curtis replied. We waited for what seemed like ages for Sally to pull up. She finally did but look a little longer for her to get out of her car.
"She smells them" I stated, mortified. "We're fucked." She walked to the back of the car and I'm pretty sure I blacked out before she opened the trunk. But when I looked up again, she was pulling in just as she was moments before. Everyone else looked exactly the same except Curtis who looked startled but relieved.
"Curtis?" I whispered. "Didn't this happen already?"
He scrunched his eyebrows and responded "…Yeah. Wait…how do you…?" She pulled in and Curtis shot up. "She's gonna look in the boot! She's gonna walk over and find the bodies."
"How do you know?" Alisha asked.
"It's already happened once."
"So now you rewind time?" Nathan asked. He sat there holding Kelly in his arms which made me feel a twinge of anger. But then again, I can't see us together anyway. Just as I was glaring at them, we made eye contact and he pushed her away, shifting his attention to Sally. She was making her way to the back of the car when Nathan emerged from behind the barrels and threw a brick at her car window.
"What the hell?!"
"Just pure, mindless vandalism!"
"What the hell is wrong with you? Are you mentally deficient?!"
"If I was, I wouldn't have missed. Bulls eye."
"My office. Now!" she ordered.
Later that day, we went to the overpass only to find them just finishing putting the cement down over the bodies. Finally, I was at peace.
We all sat on the roof of the community center, looking off into the sunset. Nathan scooted towards me and randomly laid his head on my shoulder. I couldn't help but think about Niamh. We weren't the best of friends but I was genuinely worried about her. There were no clues. But then, I had an epiphany. Essentially she was missing but with recent events I had an idea of where she might be. And it had to do with Sally. Something in me knew that Sally was onto us; that she didn't trust us. She was probably using Niamh to get us to confess but I was determined to end it. I noticed Kelly staring at me with wide eyes. I completely forgot she could read minds.
"You're right!" she exclaimed.
"About what?" Nathan asked. Kelly and I dashed towards the door, leaving the rest of them on the roof feeling confused. We dashed down the stairwell towards the locker rooms. I walked near her office and saw that she had gone home which meant that the coast was clear.
