“Ok. Here’s my idea. I’ll go to her and ask ‘Can I talk to you in private?’ Then she’ll be like ‘Ok.’ Then I’ll bring her to the bathroom and beg for her to fix me. Then after she tries it, she’ll see that it’s not working. I’ll act all surprised and disappointed. Then, Kelly will come up from behind with one of those bottles and smash it against the her head, knocking her out cold. Then everyone should turn back to normal.” I looked at them with my mouth open with a smile waiting for their opinions. “So…??”
“You,” Nathan began. “Are one fine genius.” He gave me a high five before taking out a bottle from under his arm and handing it to Kelly.
“You hide in the stall, Kelly. Keep your headphones in but low enough so you can hear when April is ready for you to come out. Me and you, April, are gonna go find this bitch and stop her.”
“Sounds like a plan” Kelly responded. She took the bottle and hid in the stall, locking the door and standing on top of the toilet. Nathan and I were just about to leave when Simon came busting through the door. “She’s coming! I saw her walking down the hall!”
“Ok. Um change of plans. Simon you go. Put some headphones in and stay out of sight for moment. Nathan, act like you’re forcing yourself on me so that she’ll get you to stop and leave. That way, we can still carry out the rest of the plan.” Simon left and I dragged Nathan by the collar to the far wall and pulled him towards me, him placing his arms around my waist. I placed my hands on his chest and when I looked up at his face, he was looking at my lips. The door creaked open and Nathan forcefully put his lips on mine, pulling my waist against his. I pushed at his chest but he wouldn’t budge. I tried shouting a little but it was muffled, as his mouth was over mine.Rachel, I think her name was, turned away from the sink and snatched Nathan away by his hood, shouting “Get off of her! What is your problem?” He eyes opened quickly as his lips pulled away from mine, him stumbling away from me. “That’s not how you treat a woman!” Rachel shouted at him. I nodded slightly as he watched me, turning around, then walking out of the bathroom before she continued. When she turned back around to face, I began to act like I was distressed which I slightly was. I was expecting him to just talk and tug on me, not kiss me. I placed my hands over my heart and looked at the ground, acting ashamed and embarrassed.
“Are you alright?” she asked.
“...uh...yeah. I guess. Thank you for stopping him. I don’t know what’s gotten into him. It’s probably because of the way I look” I said, shrugging, walking to grab a paper towel to wipe the makeup off, making her pity me.
“No. No it’s never your fault that that kind of stuff happens. Never blame yourself.”
“Thank you...I’ve been seeing what you’ve been doing which is why I came to the community center today. I wanted to know if you could...help me. I’ve just been the worst person. All I do is hang out in bars, hitting on guys and shit. And I hate myself for it. Because I know I can do better.”
“And you can.” She looked me in the eye and placed a hand on my shoulder. “You don’t have to be this way. You can be so much better.” I looked around, making her think it was starting to work. But then I revealed a look a disappointment.
“I...I don’t feel any different. Why didn’t it work?”
“Maybe it’s too late for you to be saved” she responded, painfully sarcastic and snarky. Kelly then busts out of the stall with the bottle in hand and whacks it right across her skull, glass and liquor flying everywhere. Rachel lay on the tile floor unconscious but still squirming a little. “We have to find Alisha!” We ran out of the bathroom, music blasting in Kelly’s ears as our footsteps echoed through the hallways. We spotted her walk into a storage room, dressed and acting the same, and followed after her quietly. Obviously, knocking Rachel out didn’t help. We followed Alisha into the room, locking the door behind us.
“Alisha, “ I began. “You have to listen us.”
