I woke up to Simon shaking me awake, standing above me with a worried look on his face. "April!" his voice sounded muffled but became clearer as I came to my senses. "April!" I sat up immediately, heavily breathing. "Are you ok?" He asked. I was still in shock. I couldn't get my words out clearly. All that came out were noises. I put my head in my hands and felt how wet it was. I must have been crying in my sleep. Simon sat beside me and rubbed his hand on my back, trying to sooth me. It had to be about 6AM. It was beginning to get light outside so there was no point in me going back to sleep. I was too afraid to anyway. I didn't want to see what I just saw again. I realized that I was still shaking. The shaking came to a stop and I calmed down.

"Simon" I started. "What happened?"

"You were screaming. And crying. You were sitting up holding your arms out like this," He replied, putting his arms out in front of him, "As if you were holding someone." I put my head in my arms and continued to cry for reasons I wasn't even sure of. Simon rubbed my back to give me comfort. I sat back up, still in a daze when Simon's eyes get big as the lights began to flicker and everything on the dresser began to shake. "You're bleeding!" I looked down at my hands to find them wet with blood. I hopped out of my bed frantically, staring at my hands and searching for where it was coming from. "What the hell is happening to me?!" Kate ran into the room and when she saw me, she screamed "What happened?!"

"I don't know!"

"Your eyes. Y-you're crying blood!" I looked into the mirror behind the door and immediately became nauseous. I thought I was crying normal tears but I found that they weren't tears anymore, it was blood. I looked down it was all over my shirt and hands. I tried to wipe them off of my face but I only made it worse. The sight and smell of blood always made me feel uneasy. I looked up into the mirror again and saw that my eyes were completely red. Before I knew it, my legs began to go weak and everything blacked out.

I heard the sound of a heart monitor and hushed voices, a woman's voice I couldn't recognize and Kate's.

"Are you her mum?"

"Y-yes I am."

"If you don't mind me asking, is she adopted or..."

"She's mine. End of discussion."

"I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean any harm. But anyway, what exactly is wrong with her?"

"Well, we don't know." I heard someone get up from a chair and Simon's voice followed.

"It was around 6 o'clock this morning and I heard her screaming. It stopped but then she started up again. I knew something was wrong. I knocked lightly but she didn't answer so I opened her door. She was sitting up with her hands out like this. But her eyes were closed so I assumed she was just sleep-talking. I called her but she didn't answer. She started screaming again but this time she started crying. So I woke her up and she looked confused. I told her what happened and it made her more upset so she started crying again. But when she sat back up, she had blood all over her hands and clothes. She got up and was looking at her hands. Then my mum came in. The blood was coming from her eyes like normal tears. When she noticed it, she passed out. T-that's it." When I opened my eyes, everything was blurry and I couldn't see anything. I still had my scarf on (thank God). I tried rubbing my eyes but I felt a hand grab them. My hands still smelled of blood. I could taste it too.

"No no no. Don't rub your eyes dearie. It might make it worse." I couldn't see who it was or where I was and it made me even more upset. It sounded like someone I didn't know so I assumed it was a nurse or doctor.

"How are you feeling?" I heard Simon ask.

"Well, I still feel nauseous. I can't see anything. I feel drained. And I don't know where I am."
