jackson had been acting distant with grace. whenever they were together he seemed like he was nervous, like something was bothering him.

she would walk into a room where he was and he would start acting all weird; he would stop talking with whoever he was talking to, he'd begin stuttering on his words, acting awkward and uncomfortable. grace had no clue what was going on with him.

grace walked into the attending's lounge, where alex, jackson and richard were. "hey guys" she smiled, as she opened the door.

they were quietly talking about something, but it looked like they got a surprise as she walked in. "oh, uh, hey" jackson smiled, rubbing the back of his neck.

"are you not meant to be in surgery?" alex asked her, as he ate a chip.

"um, no" grace replied, stealing a chip from alex. "i've got none today" she told them.

"i've gotta go" alex told them before leaving.

grace sat down at the table, and looked up at jackson with furrowed eyebrows. "what was that all about?" she asked him.

"uh, i don't know what you're talking about" he nervously chuckled. "i've gotta go, as well. i'll see you later" he said as he gave her a kiss before running out.

grace looked at richard with a shocked and confused face, and was about to open her mouth to say something, but he stopped her.

"hey, don't ask me" richard stated with his hands up, before leaving as well.

since grace didn't have any surgeries, and she had murphy doing her post ops. she decided to meet with her mom for some lunch.

"hey, ignore how i look. i've just got here from work, and i have to go back after" grace told her mom, as she sat down.

"you look fine" mrs donahue scoffed. "so, how has work been?" she asked her, as took her glasses out of her bag to read the menu.

"uh, yeah it's been fine" grace nodded, looking at the menu as well. "just the same old thing"

"and how has jackson been?" mrs donahue asked her.

"uh, yeah fine as well" grace said quickly.

"just fine?" mrs donahue asked.

"yeah, of course" grace said with a small smile, as she saw her mom giving her a confused look. "why-why are you looking at me like that?"

"well, i don't know. you normally speak about him differently, but you know i could just be thinking into it to much" she sighed, as she moved her attention back onto the menu.

"ugh, fine" grace sighed. "he's been acting a little weird with me recently, but i don't want to talk about it, alright?"

"alright" mrs donahue nodded, as she had a small smirk on her face, since she knew she was right.

the waiter came to their table to ask them if they were ready to order. "two martinis-" mrs donahue started before grace cut her off.

"no" grace snapped. "i have to go back to work" she said with wide eyes, before looking back up to the waiter. "one martini and just a soda for me" she smiled.
