"𝐰𝐞'𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲" - 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟕𝟏

"grace donahue?" the kind doctor smiled.

"yes" grace smiled, as her and jackson stood up.

"we're ready for you" she told them, as they followed her into a private room.

"so, i am dr schneik, it's really great to meet you" she smiled, as she put her hand out. "you both are doctors, as well, is that correct?" she asked them.

"yes, we are" grace replied. "i am a fetal and pediatric surgeon and jackson is a plastic surgeon" she explained.

"ah, okay" she nodded. "so you will both have good knowledge on what to do and what not to do" she smiled, as they both just nodded.

jackson was sat beside grace, holding her hand, as he watched the lady get everything prepared.

this was grace's first ultrasound, since being pregnant.

"okay, so this will feel a little cold" the lady smiled, as she rubbed the gel into grace's stomach.

"you okay?" jackson smiled, as he looked down at grace.

"yep" she nodded with a smile.

"and here is your baby" dr schneik told them, as they both looked up at the ultrasound.

"oh my god" grace smiled, as tears formed in her hazel eyes. "that's our baby" she smiled, as she looked over at jackson.

"that's our baby" he smiled, also with tears in his eyes.

they then listened for the heartbeat and grace's heart did a little flutter when she heard it. that was their baby's heart.

"so, your baby is looking healthy" dr schneik smiled, as she looked at the happy couple. "you will be able to find out the gender at your next appointment, if you're interested?" she told them, and they both instantly replied with yes. "perfect!" the doc smiled, before guiding them out.

"she was so chirpy" jackson chuckled, in a quiet tone.

"when you're dealing with pregnant mothers and babies, you've got to be" she told him, as she gave him a pat on the back before heading to the car.

grace and jackson got to work and they were making their way to the attendings lounge. "remember, do not say anything" grace strictly told him. "it may seem hard not to, but you can't. okay?" he asked him, as they stopped by the door.

"i get it" he reassured her, as he opened the door.

all of the attendings stood there staring at them with smiles on their faces.

grace stopped in the doorway and looked at them all. "i'm pregnant" she exclaimed, with an awkward smile, as jackson shot his head back to look at her. she stood there frozen with wide eyes, realising that she had just gone and told everyone. "crap" she mumbled, before mouthing 'sorry' to jackson.

"congratulations" everyone cheered, as they all clapped.

"grace, that's great" meredith smiled, as she gave her a hug. "our kids will be close in age" she smiled.
