I held the scepter in my hands walking over to the Tesseract standing next to Natasha. "Are you sure this will work?" Dr. Selvig asked. "Yes. It'll be similar to using a key to lock a door. The scepter is the key." I explained. "The portal is the door." Romanoff answered. "Exactly." I answered pointing the scepter at the Tesseract. "We can close it." Romanoff announced. "Can anybody copy? We can shutdown the portal." She added. "Do it!" Rogers answered. "No, wait." Stark voiced. "Stark, these things are still coming." Cap told him. "I got a nuke coming in. It's gonna blow in less than a minute." Stark explained. I looked at Natasha. "And I know just where to put it." He added.

Seconds passed before a red and white blur flew passed us into the sky. Straight into the portal. I stared into the portal waiting. "Come on, Stark." I whispered. "Close it." Rogers ordered. I lowered my head before jamming the scepter into the Tesseract. The portal started to close. I noticed something fall through the portal at the last second before it closed shut. I squinted my eyes before realizing it was Stark. "Son of a bitch." I cursed watching him with a smile. My smile started to fade when I noticed him not slowing down before Hulk snatched him out of the air and landed on the ground. I dropped my head with a chuckle when I heard him wake up and start talking about shwarma. I walked over to the edge of the building, handing her the scepter. "Where are you going?" Natasha asked me. "To give Slytherin, a piece of my mind." I said looking over my shoulder before dropping off the roof and landing on the balcony below.

I walked over to Loki's crawling figure. "Would you look at that? Looks like you don't get to rule the world after all." I said. He looked at me. "Ah, the famed mercenary. Here to collect my head, I assume?" Loki asked. I shook my head kneeling down beside him with a devious smirk. "You may think you're dangerous, Loki. But you're not." I whispered into his ear. "You see you're nothing but an afterthought in a bigger game. You were played. I would know, because I'm in your line of business. I know when someone is working for someone else. So...why don't you tell me who the fuck you're working for?" I growled. He smirked. "How can I answer that which I don't know the answer to?" He asked with a wide smile before I drove my fist into his face. His body turned around from the sheer force of the punch. "You know for a mere man, you're strength is incredible." He said holding his nose. "That's because I'm no man. I'm a monster." I answered getting to my feet as the others arrived. Loki turned around leaning back on his elbow facing us. "If it's all the same to you, I'll have that drink now." Loki announced.

LATER

I stood in Central Park in civilian clothes, leaning against a black 1970 Mustang convertible with my arms crossed. The others were standing in a group as I stood by myself in the shade of a large tree. Thor and Loki disappeared in a beam of light. Natasha walked over with her hands in her jacket pockets. "Didn't want to say goodbye?" She asked me. "I'm not really big on goodbyes. The last time I did, I became this...thing. I am today." I explained. "What? A hero?" She countered. "You know what I meant." I said. "I don't think you're a monster, Connor. I think you're broken. And luckily for you, I can fix you." She said with a smirk getting into the passenger seat of the Mustang. I climbed into the driver's seat. "Fix me? You gonna go at me with a hammer and screwdriver?" I asked with a smile. "Depends do you want me to screw you?" She asked with a devious smirk. I felt my face heat up before looking away. "Damn you, Romanoff." I said before peeling away as she let out a laugh.
