i twist an turn from the position was i laying in. i woke up about thirty minutes early, so there was no reason for me to try and continue to get some rest. i decided to get up and wash myself.

i spent a good 15 minutes just fastening the straps of my uniform around my body. i was never told what we would be doing today because i was busy all day yesterday.

i knew armin was always up early, so i decided to meet up with him. i stand in front of the blond's door and knock on the wood.

"i'm coming!" his voice calls on the other side. he cracks open the door to see who was on the other side. "oh, y/n. what brings you here so early?" he asks, opening the door all the way so i could walk into his room.

"i woke up early and i have nothing to do. i decided to stop by your room because i know that your always up."

"oh, well i would enjoy your company, y/n. i was about to start this book so we can read it together if that's alright with you."

"that sounds great." i say, sitting on his bed. he sits beside me and pulls the book out from under his pillow.

"i'll read one page and then you can read the next, how does that sound."

"yeah, that sounds great armin." the boy clears his throat and starts to read from the book in his hands. the words he was reading spill out of his mouth fluently. he pronounced everything perfectly and didn't stutter once.

"okay, it's your turn, y/n." i take the book and look down at the page for me to read. i mispronounced one word and stuttered on a sentence that had twisted my tongue. i didn't like the fact that i was unable to let the words flow from my tongue the way they did for armin. however, he didn't seem to mind that the words didn't come out perfectly. we read a-few more pages before armin turned to the clock on his wall.

"y/n, it looks like it's almost time for breakfast. we can continue this book some other time if you'd like."

"that sounds wonderful, armin. i actually find this book very interesting." he smiles and we walk out of the room down to the cafeteria. eren had just walked in behind us and mikasa was already at a table. i grabbed my plate and sat in between jean and eren, making sure to keep them from getting into a petty argument.

"so, y/n, we're supposed to be training today. i didn't know if you knew because you were in the kitchen all day yesterday." eren informs me.

"i didn't know that, thanks eren." i continue to eat the food on my plate.

"ughhhhh, y/n." sasha whines, "i miss your food. this stuff is horrible."

"sasha, i came here to be a soldier, not a chef."
